keyword anchor text or website?

Hi,

I'm following the forever affiliate program by andrew hansen. for backlinking in the first month, he says we have to use only brand anchor texts, like website name or full url.

Now this is completely different to what i am reading everywehere else, including mark lings affiloblueprint, where they all say we should use keyword anchor texts.

which is true?

    Use both to create a natural experience.

    EX. People link to Google in many different ways with full url, website name, a specific topic, etc.

    It only looks bad if every single link has the exact same keyword anchor text.
