How can I use images to get traffic to my blog?

I have heard something about image SEO and seen many people who are getting traffic from Google images. Would you mind in sharing your experience in this?

Put your keyword in the Alt tag of the image. It helps Google to understand what the image is about. Also in alt tag, put your keyword in a phrase which looks more natural.

It's Pinterest. Also some other sites for image sharing are Clipboard, Flickr, etc. Flickr is a great source and drives a lot of traffic.

    Hello,

It is best to use Image ads on your website with call to action on them, and when clicked on, to go to landing page of your choice, animated image is best, and for seo, use the name of what you are trying to work with. Best Size is 250 x 250.

    Thanks Rob

The name of each image should contain relevant keywords. This way the picture will be easily found in Google Image Search and redirect the user to your website, which will increase traffic.

Alt and Name text are very important (Of couse it would be better to use 2 different names for EACH image -> Alt text and Name of the image -> this will increase the chances to get a visitor from search engines 2 times -> once for alt text and also for the name. But, use REAL name and alt text -> That desribe the pictures // Also, Pinterest and Chime are great social media sites that could drive you some quality and targetted traffic!

Google recently updated the image search making it more difficult

I would recommend uploading images related to your niche to sites like flickr or pinterest and watermark every image with your website URL

The most important part is to put your keyword as the image name - my-keyword.jpg. Also put the keyword as the alt tag and description.

However with the latest Google Images update the traffic from images is way-way down.

Before when people wanted to see the full size image they had to come to your site, but now, as you can see, they can see it full size on google. So no reason to visit your site. And you won't get any traffic at all.

One of my image sites got hit pretty hard because of that.

    Thanks Google.

    Few tips:
    - Use ALT text attribute.
    - Change the look of the image with image editor, so it looks more unique to search engines.

Use descriptive name of images, use alt tag and provide text description around image.
How much traffic you get from image search also depends on the subject of the image (i.e image search volume)
