I always seem to write a really good article then find i just then think wait a minute and then find i just post it on my blog instead...

Is it better to have article directory back links or a blog that's full of content?

Surely google knows its the webmaster's that post on these websites anyway?

Links from sites which use ethical SEO methods are always valuable. For example links from ezine, goarticles are always worthy.

      They accept duplicate content...
Instead go for such sites that accept unique content only... You can try 1888articles.com

The price of content seems to be the highest expense there is right now when wanting to make money from affiliate/adsense marketing.

So when I have to spend $5 for an article I really think about how I'm going to use it, if it's for website content then it's a no brainer, the more the better of course. When it's for link building at public sites then I start to become extremely picky on what site I want to upload it to.

For example if I can post an article on my PR5 site then the costs are totally justified as I get a ton of link juice from it / ranking benefit. When I post at my PR3 sites I chose to use a much shorter article, for example 100 words, as I get much less juice from that page.

When uploading to article directories I would almost say use high quality spun content but Google ain't stupid so I say: Don't use spun content at all. Then still how we get links from such sites? I decide to just write 1 article and upload it to 5 or 10 different article directories, those directories don't give you any juice any way but it's good to have some diverse links.

In my monthly service for example we write 3 unique articles in a certain month, and upload 1 of them to 5 doc/pdf sharing sites, 1 of them to 5 free press release sites and the other one to 5 article directories.

Sometimes people come up with arguments that using the same content for multiple links kill the effectiveness of the links, but think about it for a second, an article directory is already giving you close to zero juice so you think the uniqueness of the content is going to make any difference? Zero divided by zero remains zero. Easy as that.

Unless you have a decent plan to make the article directory page rank for the keyword, and thus you use tiered linking then it's a bit of a different story.

Back when Ezine was ranking for anything and everything, it was almost a no-brainer to post content there and funnel the traffic to your own site. These days? Not so much. You're better off optimizing the article on your site & getting it to rank, IMO.

You should post best content in your blog 1st.
Constant unique contents will improve your SERPs.
As for articles Directory, you just need to submit to the main few such as ezine articles, etc..
Nowadays, articles directories are not so important in SEO. I submit to them mainly for Branding purposes.

I recommend you guys do video marketing. Can generate great SEO results very fast.

As long as these article directories are NOT auto approved. Also, they should be High Authority. And ... do NOT forget that the articles should be UNIQUE!

Get strong backlinks using guest post with unique content is the way to go. Article directories accept duplicate content, it'll get even worse if it's syndicated by many sites.

Not sure why people still mention places like goarticles as a place to submit content. Just because it takes seconds to submit an article there doesn't mean its the best choice.

Submitting to article directories is still one of the most effective types of backlinking. Submit to high quality authority directories which are showing up in the SERPs for the keywords that you’re trying to rank for. Go with contextual links from a mix of do-follow and no-follow sites. Original content is always a plus since it’s one of Google’s primary concerns. You may also want to diversify your links by having incoming links from different types of sites – web 2.0’s (mix of do follow and no follow), blog posts, social bookmarking, wiki, press releases, etc.

Article directories are history. Every site with thousands (millions) of outbound links isn't very valuable at all.

I would get a very high quality article and post it as a guest post on a high ranked blog.

Best way to get a great backlink and targeted traffic.

I think both are bad ideas, especially in 2013 after Penguin updates.
