Hello guys,

I have recently change the url structure of my site and moved all old links using 301. my site has more than 150 pages indexed in google. But 2 pages are indexed twice with url parameter ftr=vidpgurl. And that's why my ranking of those pages are now out of 100 due to duplicate content issue. Google is indexing original url and also the same url with ftr=vidpgurl parameter like below.

Original url in index = site.com/service-page/

Same url with ftr parameter = site.com/service-page/?ftr=vidpgurl

I want to know that how to solve this issue of content duplication. I have searched it on google and most of the people are suggesting to do changes in .htaccess file.

Dose any body have experienced same issue in past and how do you solve it.

Thanks

    Hi Princee,

This is a common problem and hence I would suggest you the exact process getting this cleared-

    1. Go to Google Webmasters -- Settings --- URL Parameters - There you should select this parameter ftr and ask google not to index it by select the No URLs option.

    2. Block ftr term through your robots.txt

    3. After doing this go to google search and do a site:www.yourdomain.com inurl:ftr, here whatever results you get, copy them and then request them to be removed from index through google webmaster's remove url tool.

Let me know if you face any issue in accomplishing this.
