I think Google is trippin'

Well maybe not, but I need some opinions:

Here is the story:
I bought a brand new domain name from namecheap and left it sit without hosting for about 1.5 month. 2 weeks ago I finally started to building it up. After 4-5 days later it got indexed by Google.

After 1 week I sent some retweets and facebook likes to it to get PR0 and start ranking somewhere in search results. Now 2 weeks later and about 5 days after retweets and facebook likes my PR is still n/a and website is no where to be found on Google, but stands number 11 on Bing and number 18 on Yahoo.

Just 2 days ago I built about 5 backlinks on High PR pages withing context and still nothing.

What do you think the cause could be? What should I do?

PS: btw even though domain was brand new, it has been registered before because I found some backlinks for it. About 10 of them on indexed article directories, social bookmarking sites and directories.

Please advise, thanks in advance

(I posted this thread 30 min ago in main forum but it got deleted because I posted in a wrong section, so I apologize to those who already read this)

What you should do is keep promoting your website and don't worry about Google. When Google is ready to index your site then it will but you must help the process by getting good links and produce fresh content. Google is always tripping but the longer you play Google's game the better the rewards. Consistent good links + patience = great search engine visibility.

Personally I wouldn't send retweets and facebook likes at the start, how fake would that look, zero rankings but plenty of tweets and likes, doesn't make sense.

Not that I think that Retweets and Likes helps at all, but still.

Apart of that you should just be a bit more patience imo and keep building some decent enough links.

Tweets and fb links are not links.

Twitter is nofollow, so no PR there, and FB likes
or even links are not links either.

How soon do you expect to see an increase in PR? I think
you should do research on that.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

I have done it before. I usually buy a domain name and send few retweets in the beginning that gets it indexed and gets me to PR0. And like I said I just built few strong backlinks to it from PR pages so it should have given it some PR.
Most often you only need 1-2 links even from Twitter to get PR0 from Google (just talking from my experience)

The site is already indexed it just seems that Google doesn't give it any attention. I will drip feed some social bookmarks and web 2.0s and see what happens

Like I said, the website already had past history and has backlinks showing from before so I thought likes and retweets would be alright but perhaps you are right maybe I should have waited a bit longer. I didn't send too many, about 50 likes and 40 retweets.

I will build a few more backlinks to it till the end of the week to see what happens

Yes but those back links lead to a dead site for a long time so Google follows those links very sporadically, it's like they put a timer on it.

I know cause I bought 100 very long time dropped ones and for most of the sites it took TWO pagerank updates before the PR got back, or in other words I had to wait about 4-5 months. That's why I said keep building links cause right now Google has those links on ignore mode.

I actually didnt think of that, perhaps you are right. I will just keep on working on it then, thanks

Do you think it makes sense maybe to build backlinks to those old backlinks, that way Google might crawl it again and see that it actually leads to a new site?

Yeah that might work, never thought of trying.
