PPC Tracking on Single Page Site?

Here is the problem: I'm looking into setting up an adwords PPC campaign to a 1-page site. The contact phone number and email are listed at the top on the site's header. Adding an additional thank you/contact us page is not an option in this particular case.

As far as I can tell, this seems to remove any conversion tracking ability.
I know this is not an ideal PPC setup but the campaign would be locally targeted, is a service with low competition, and the value for each lead is very high.

I'm new to PPC and am interested in opinions or ideas on how we could best proceed or other possible methods for tracking conversions.

  • Warriordanny,

You can still track a single page without having a confirmation page using virtual pageviews. With this process, you are essentially tricking analytics into thinking there was another page view. You can invoke the _trackPageview method on a button or whatever it is that people click to complete the conversion and this will be trackable in your reports.
Here is a link to how you set that up,

The link also provides setting up the event tracking method which may also be good for you to use.

    Hope that helps,

If you're trying to drive mostly inbound calls, you'll want to set up Call Tracking through a 3rd party software like Mongoose Metrics or Century Interactive, or by creating a duplicate version of the landing page that will receive only PPC traffic and have a unique phone number.

If there's a contact form you're trying to track as well without using a Thank You page, you can sometimes build the tracking into the form itself depending on how it was created.

The ghetto version of call tracking: you can get phone numbers with call forwarding for just a dollar or two a month. You set up a different landing page for each marketing channel, only changing the phone number on the different versions. Looking at the caller ID on your phone, or online call logs, to see which number is ringing through, tells you which campaign generated that lead.

For the contact form, you can use JavaScript to trigger a conversion event when the form is submitted as mentioned above. No separate page load has to happen.
