Where do these ideas come from?

So I got an email pitching a new WSO, and he is recruiting JVs. It is for a plugin, and it sounds pretty damn good. I think I shall want a copy, and the OTO as well.

I just want to ask, where do people come up with these ideas? I mean, I never thought of this, and there it is, an ingenious idea. but how did he ever come up with the idea for it?

Once you have the idea, it is no problem to get it done for you. You can just go to one of the freelance sites and find a developer, and offer them a job. Of course, you got to have some money, but not all that much usually.

I would just like to be able to tap into that treasure of ideas these folks have.

Before there can be a solution there must be a problem, search for common problems to solve....

On the other hand, I think some people are just more inventive than others.

oh man, I just finished a rant in another thread about my ADHD and how it curses me to keep chasing all the ideas I have.

I think it just comes down to learning how to live with your eyes open to this kind of thing. I can't speak to how hard it is to learn as that is probably different for everyone, but I can tell you that once I figured out how to spot problems that need a solution, the spigot hasn't turned off.

Some ideas are brilliant, some are lame, and some are better not shared with others but just plowed ahead on. ("Normal" people frequently don't get what drives the true entrepreneur).

I forget more inspiring ideas than I write down these days. If I had 10 of me, I'd get to them all and love every minute of it.

Here is my advice... sitting in a dark room is a terrible way to spot problems that need solving. Get out into the world, interact with people, learn about businesses. Figure out how others make a living, then ask them what keeps them awake at night or frustrated during the day.

If you currently work at a job, that is the best place to start as you speak the language already. Open your eyes and ears. Look for the problems that arise and in the little things that people have to do every day. The world is much bigger than IM. Solve real problems for real people - there is way more opportunity out there than you could possibly realize.

Everyone loves to complain about their problems and frustrations. Be a good listener, and figure out where the opportunities lie for you.
