Hi people. Over a time, I've bookmarked a list of free hosting providers and recently tried them. Websites on those hostings are loading very well, with no downtime, but right now it's early to say for sure.

Anyway, I already said that websites are loading very fast, just like on every other paid hosting. Is it smart to build a private blog network using this free providers. I didn't paid a penny and it works great.

And, my domains are registered with whois protection.

Will big G like my idea? What do you think about this?
Cheers.

The problem with a free host is they tend to be fairly unreliable. Might work fine now, but what happens if it goes down? Will their support answer? Will your site be down for a few hours or a few days?

Some free hosts also put ads on your site whether you want them there or not. I wouldn't want that.

You can find plenty of horror stories from people who have used free hosts.

If you are going to spend the money to build a quality private network of sites, drop a couple bucks for hosting too. You can get affordable and reliable hosting for $3/month. Sometimes even less if you find good offers. Web Hosting Talk forum is a great place to find decent options.

I would not risk my domains getting thrown out of the index for significant down time because I didn't want to spend a few bucks on a host.

I have seen a live example of this. When I was new to SEO, my friend had used free hosting, and was bragging about it. It did stop working and my friend was totally clueless . I just said 3 words to him...
      LOL, What now?

Thanks for the answer. Those 7 hosting provider that I've chosen don't have any ads on my websites.
About the uptime, I could set Free Website Uptime Monitoring - Uptime Robot on every account and to monitor it. After some time I'll get a whole picture.
About the price, I agree that I should invest in this network some bucks. But, I'll try to save potential ~ 7 x 30$ per year, which could be a nice deal. I'll track up/downtime, and maybe inform community about up/downtime.

Beside possible downtime, I suppose that this plan should work.

For only $200+ a year it just is not worth the risk to me.

Your business though. Run it how you want.

Do not opt-in for yearly payments. Those companies might go down overnight.

Better off paying for cheap hosting and doing a hosting account exchange

Yeah, there's really no reason for free hosting.
Stablehost, for example, is an excellent host that has $2 monthly plans, if paid for a year.
So you can get hosting for $24/year .... hardly breaking the bank!

For sure that paid hosting is better, but free hosting is on higher level than a few years ago.

Anyway, in a case when someone do not has a money for small blog network hosting, can use free hosting.
I will write up-time and other performances of these websites after some time, it might be OK.

IF they are working for you I would just monitor it and make sure to backup. Sure mix in some cheap hosts and even some web 2.0s. No need to replace what isn't broken. now if you have a whole lot of sites on them then makes less sense.

The whole point of running your own blog network is to make money. Then you just pay the minimal amount hosting costs.

IMO its risk to use free hosting for your PRIVATE NETWORK that needs huge security.

all you can do is just buy any cheap SEO hosting/ hostgator reseller hosting that works great with PRivate Network security.

OK, but it potently means that I would use some non-major company which services and performances are questionable, and give me that same performance questions in my variant of using free hosting, but for some bucks.

OK, but we're talking about blog network, which means that every website should has its own domain. And I'm using some expired domains too.

Has anyone tried major free hosting companies like www.000webhost.com or you're just plain talking?
