Hi all, Hope someone can help me out.

I am new to the forum and hope I can get some advice on a backlinking question I can't figure out on my own -

Briefly, I created a website in 1998, generally speaking, offering my services as a spiritual coach - not exactly what it is, but I want to be general in this info.

For the last 10 years I ranked on the 1st page of Google for 3 different keywords, following the old SEO guidelines, beginning with Bruce Rife, I believe his name was. But this year, Google has dropped my rankings to 2nd page and 6th page, and I know that is because I only have 10 back links, but one is DMOZ, which of course is the best link anyone could have.

Here is my question: I am about to hire someone from ODESK - from Pakistan to create backlinks for me. I want to direct him to only use the backlinks from my competitor's sites that are listed on 1st page Google for the keyword searches. And of course, I will write the articles for article submission. Will this work for Google - any problem that anyone could forsee?

And is it best to use different 1-3 line webpage descriptions when backlinking - he is saying only 1 is necessary. I am thinking at least 10 different ones would be best. I have about 5 keywords.

My niche isn't as competitive as some of you, so I don't understand why this wouldn't work out well.

Thank you for any feedback or help.

I'm not an seo expert - so take this as you will.

Paying someone to create hundreds of random backlinks is, in my opinion, unlikely to help you. This forum and many others are full of, so called, seo experts. Be very sure that whoever you engage actually KNOWS what they are doing and isn't just jumping on the backlinking bandwagon.

First of all, try and work out why your site dropped.

Second - pay attention to your onsite seo. Does your site have enough content for Google to love it? Do you regularly add to or change your content? Is your site full of random articles that have been keyword stuffed?

Thanks, Rose And the answer is yes to all your questions. Only reason they may have dropped me other than lack of backlinks was that my keyword density too high, which I have changed.

I can't figure out why using my competitors backlinks would not work.

Anyone out there who would know that could answer this?

Try to analyzing your competitors, and see which kind of backlinks they have, becouse if they link work for them, will for sure work also for you. And plus create other good backlinks and do this work everytime, this should help to rank near them, or to try to beat

Possible reasons for decrease in ranking includes site being penalized, duplicate content, low quality content and overoptimized keywords. Also, deleted links cause would cause negative link velocity and decrease in rankings.

It’s ok to check where the competitor’s getting their backlinks from and acquire links from those sites as well. A domain like yours which has been in business for several years has already gained trust from the Search Engines so it’s not that hard to rank for the highest position in the SERPs. Just continue on building links from different authority domains – article submission to high quality Directories which have authority and are relevant or are showing up in the SERPs for the keywords that you’re ranking for; Wiki, Social Bookmarking and Web 2.0 Property (contextual links, mix of do-follow and no-follow); Press Release, Blog Posts, Homepage Backlink, Video and Document Sharing, etc. and put unique and fresh content frequently. You should also continue building to maintain link velocity.

I already bought some solution in India and Pakistan and i have been disappointed in all cases.

They buy domain names with high pageranks that inherit its pagerank from previous owner. What you don't know is that no backlinks point to this website anymore. after few months the PR turns back to zero.

If you buy links to them, they may blackmail you and tell you to pay more if you want to keep your backlinks.

    Do the backlinking yourself.

If you are new to SEO, then you should not go hire someone but try to learn the techniques first else otherwise you will never know if the work done by the SEO company is good or even bad for your site's rankings.
