Hi all, Hope someone can help me out - clueless.

I am new to the forum and hope I can get some advice on a backlinking question I can't figure out on my own -

Briefly, I created a website in 1998, generally speaking, offering my services as a spiritual coach - not exactly what it is, but I want to be general in this info.

For the last 10 years I ranked on the 1st page of Google for 3 different keywords, following the old SEO guidelines, beginning with Bruce Rife, I believe his name was. But this year, Google has dropped my rankings to 2nd page and 6th page, and I know that is because I only have 10 back links, but one is DMOZ, which of course is the best link anyone could have.

Here is my 1st question: I am about to hire someone from ODESK - from Pakistan to create backlinks for me. I want to direct him to only use the backlinks from my competitor's sites that are listed on 1st page Google for the keyword searches. And of course, I will write the articles for article submission. Will this work for Google - any problem that anyone could forsee?

2nd question: And is it best to use different 1-3 line webpage descriptions when backlinking - he is saying only 1 is necessary. I am thinking at least 10 different ones would be best. I have about 5 keywords.

My niche isn't as competitive as some of you, so I don't understand why this wouldn't work out well.

Thank you for any feedback or help.

I think you should just do it your self, you don't need to hire someone. Contact websites related to your site, write content or outsource it from places like content authority if you can't write for yourself.

Make sure the content is good. If the sites accept guest posts, do it that way, lots of link juice and powerful links. Target sites which have high authority and a fairly low Alexa rank.

Create different anchors linking to your inner pages and main home page. Keep everything looking natural and you will see long term high rankings.

    Hope it helps

Thanks, LB! Since I don't have the time, I need to outsource.

Can you explain your last sentence - give me an example? What I think you are saying is that when I create a backlink, just use the url of one of my inner pages for that link?

Yeah, a mixture of backlinks pointing to your "home page" and your "inner pages" looks more natural.

I only backlink manually to high authority sites with guest posting, this way the only links pointing to my blog are highly valuable sites.

I highly recommend you do it manually to good sites. I've seen people using UAW and sending links to their main site and getting penalized by Google because of the spamming links.

Also if your hiring someone to do your off page SEO, make sure you find out how they are getting backlinks to your site first.

Thanks, LB. I was going to instruct him to only use links from my competitors sites, that rank 1st page google for at least a year.

          What do you think?

I am also from Pakistan, why don't you hire me for the job , kidding okay? But I hate spam... I would like to suggest you build backlinks by your own... If you pay someone for the backlinks, they either spam the target (backlinks are either removed later or the source page losses value due to increased spam on it.) or buy the links for a shorter duration... When the period expires, you lost the links and rank too..

The websites for the backlinks I will be directing him to use - no other sites, so how can he spam?

He knows he won't get paid if he links to other sites than the ones that I have directed him to - my competitors websites backlinks.

Easy to cross reference and check those links......

I think that's a good idea but not all the page 1 of your competitors sites will accept guest posts, so you may need to dig deeper into Google to find more related sites.

Hope it works out for you

LB - I am not linking to my competitor's websites!

What I plan to do is use their backlinks - I can see all of them through a backlinker program, and then link to the sites that they have linked to.

That way I don't have to search for websites to link to. It seems real easy. And since my competitors rank on 1st page Google, I would think Google would have no problem with their links.

Question 1: Make sure you telling him you want anchor text variation. Including, related keywords, synonyms, LSI Keywords, and brand keywords. Out of the list of anchor text, you only want 10% of your main keyword that you are targeting. This way he won't over optimize your backlinks, possibly causing a penalty.

Question 2: Not sure what you mean by description, but having at least 300 words is fine, they don't even have to be SEO optimized, just related to your niche.

      Thanks, Razor!!!

What I meant by "description" is that some websites ask for a 1-3 line description of your site, as well as keywords. Are we on the same page - "description" is the anchor text?

        Jupiter,
If you are outsourcing make sure you give them a list of keywords, not just the keywords you want to show up on google for, you need to use keywords like click here, view for more information, url.com: Search with Many, url.com: Search with Many, url.com: Search with Many just to make your links look more natural and you aren't saturating all of your keywords. You also want to have "rel=nofollow" links despite people saying otherwise. You want your link building to look as natural as possible. So having 85% dofollow and 15% nofollow that looks unnatural to google. Same with haveing 99% of your keywords strictly being search engine focused.

Hey i understand your concern. I am also working on oDesk. I am not well enough to say but i am sharing my opinion. You can use your competitors back link sources but make sure your anchor text variation. Try to use LSI keyword which will helpful for you. Also you can use some other sources like high PR bookmark, Article Directories. And yes for my opinion you can also use Open Tire link wheel. Its great to bring the result shortly but must follow the rules.....all the best.
