hey friends , my question is that i have one website .. that is https;//example.com/ . it is https and what it is if i enter Example Domain in to browser then it revert back with https://example.com/ ( as it is re directed )

So my questiuon is when i have to make my backlinks wither in the web directories ,social bookmarking websites in which pattern i have to submit my url either in Example Domain OR https://example.com/.

if i submit my url and make backlinks with or without (www) then is there any disadvantage . Or can i submit my url in any of the two pattern , that i have mentioned above .

Please put your light of knowledge amf provide relevant answers.

Yes.it's harmful. You will have to restrict your website browsing only on one single version and that url is supposed to promote over search engines and other promotion work.Website browsing on multiple URLs can become a cause of duplicate content and SEs may penalize website.

I usually do without the www. but one is not better than another.

I personally haven't experienced any negative side effects. When I first started IM, I didn't even know about webmaster tools or anything like that and built backlinks with and without www. and still ranked high.

Doesn't matter much if you are using with or without WWW because finally you will redirected to where you want to be.

That,s your choice either you wana see your site with or without www : but make sure you have to redirect it from htaccess if you will left both of the urls working, google will consider it a duplicate page.

I build all my backlinks to http://domain... and I recommend you stick to one format, otherwise you will disperse your link juice - for Google, a backlink to http://domain... is not the same as to http://www.domain...

In short, don't just rely on webmaster tools to specify the correct URL, it's not flawless - redirect all non-WWW URLs to their WWW counterparts using a 301 redirect (and ONLY a 301 redirect).

If you are not doing this already it really can be a quick win if you've got tons of links pointing into the non-WWW URLs on your website, basically the link authority amassed to non-WWW will then be passed on and counted in the overall value of the site (from the search engine's perspective).

php.net is a prime example of this i.e. non implementation.

  • It depends on how you were link building in the past. Did you build links using
    http:// or http://www?

Stick to ONE of these. Otherwise your loosing link juice and orange juice baby

Matt cutts recommended that we should have to go with only one format either WWW or http.

he also mentioned in his blog that he is following http format.

For my own sites I create all backlinks with http://www format

Another duff thread. Why don't all the people in the room that can't talk or write English just start an SEO forum in their own language? Before I get shouted down for racism, I'm offering a solution. This stuff just isn't readable, never mind understandable.

It seems that you are using non www version.

So you have to use this particular version only to avoid creating duplicate URL. If you are placing a direct link to your site or placing an anchor text you have to use the same URL.

I used non-www but then I saw that there was a disadvantage to this -- and that is when others (outside your seo team) are mentioning your website, they tend to put the www and due to that, the link juice just gets missed right off. I have recently started using the www version with my newer sites..Because of a few job opportunities in our office, candidates have been mentioning us a lot but alas - in the wrong version, they even put our site in their blogs and in the wrong version again.. so, there you go!
