Hi all warriors...

I need your help to help me understanding difference about term "monthly search" in adwords.

What does it mean?

For example I have keyword with 300 local monthly search

So, is it mean that this keyword is searched 300 search every month, or 300 search in 12 month. I still don't know about it.

300 searches per month in the Local area you've specified (usually at the country level by default). You need to check whether that's Broad Match, Phrase Match, or Exact Match Searches to because there's a big difference.

AND it's notoriously inaccurate and should really only be used as a guideline about how much traffic they receive versus other keywords.

The only way to know for sure how many searches something gets is to test

Whatever the search volume is in The Google Keyword Tool take 25% of that value and that's a rough estimate of what you can expect in terms of visits to your website form a no. 1 spot (there are obviously tons of variables i.e. universal search listings, microformats helping listings stand out more, paid search activity etc).

The monthly search volume totals are averaged out over a 12 month period - this means they are the totals for the previous 12 months averaged out. It would be an idea to combine this with data from Google Trends for the keywords you are choosing to target.

As above, always select exact match when optimising for search and unless you are doing long-tail research, in which case other match types may be appropriate depending on your strategy.

Hit ctrl + f and search for "12-month".

p.s. the other answer isn't incorrect per say.

They're actually both true. One is talking about total searches and the other is talking about how much traffic you'll receive from those searches.

If you have your settings to [Exact] (which I recommend) that means 300 people search for that keyword, with nothing in front or after it.

Other settings will give you crazily inaccurate traffic estimates.

300 searches, mean this keyword is searched 300 times every month?
