I have build up a biggish amazon site in less than 8 months, it currently sits at around 120 quality content pages ranging from 700-2000 words each. I have closed a deal with a very well respected content writer in my niche and the site will be growing by 1-2 article pieces a day , by the end of the year it should have around 500 total content pages that are highly targeted to certain keywords in the niche. The site already ranks for alot of its targeted keywords and a whole lot of longtail keywords with not much done on my part other than social sharing and link baiting. What would your strategy be on linkbuilding as the site will be massive in a year or two ? Im not into mass bulk backlink, bmr, scrapebox blackhat tactics. Would you point alot of links to the inner pages , category , homepage ? What links would be build and what methods would you use?

What I would do is build a network of feeder sites, as a start 1 for each category.

    - i would place about 20 posts on each feeder site
    - I would use my private network to rank the feeder site for the keywords
    - I would make sure the feeder site makes money on it's own
    - And obvious link back to your authority site.

Back links are much stronger when they come from relevant domains, and not just relevant based on the content but instead the most important relevancy factor is the fact that it ranks for similar kw's as your main authority site. Another important relevancy factor is that the back links to your feeder site cover your kw's in the anchor txt.

    That is true relevance.

Just setting up an expired domain with an existing back link profile that has nothing to do with your niche and then posting relevant content (to make it look relevant) has in fact very less to do with a back link from a true relevant site (as described above).

Some people say relevancy only comes from pages, which is completely untrue, sure it helps a little bit to have surrounding content around your link but true relevance is worth it's weight in gold.

Obvious it makes a very expensive link building campaign, that's why it's important to make sure each site will make money on it's own.

Im more into having links built to rise the domain as a whole , serious link juice rather than having to build a whole lot of microniche sites. I think its very time consuming if someone else doesnt do it for you .

Well, then there are 2 choices, build your own private network so you get to keep all the juice for you, or outsource it to someone like me.

Or get your great content writer focus on real interesting content that people like to share and start to promote it on social media and what not to give it a bit of a kick start. That way you don't link build but earn links.

Building your private network is the best way. It will provide a lot of link juice to your site.

The second option looks a bit difficult, but possible. Will take more time, I guess.

Actually my first option is the best imo.

Simply cause for a huge authority site you would have to build a huge network to rank it. While when using feeder sites you can build a quite large network of let's say 150 high PR sites and rank a couple hundred mini authority / micro feeder sites from there.

Personally I love that option as I have about 150 PR3+ domains in total and don't want to link out from all of my sites so instead I could rank a mini authority site with like 50 of such links, using blog posts. And also use it for other authority sites.

Sure it's a long complicated process but each site should pay for it self so in the end it wouldn't cost and the risk is much more spread.

In the process you can even flip some sites and make good money from that as well.

At least that's what I'm planning to do.

The most important thing is to build at least one dofollow external link to each page on your website.

Why? Because getting 1 link to your keyword-focused page will make Google see that page as more authoritative than the 1000's of other pages about that keyword that have 0 links pointing to them.

Where on earth are you getting that from?

I presume you are talking about deep linking, but even then that's far too simplistic an answer - building deep links will obviously give your link profile more of a natural appearance, however the same could be argued for building a certain number of nofollow links into your site, too.

SEO cannot be defined by such restrictions - every industry is different, in fact every website is different; the strategy you take is determined by what the competition is doing, your own available resources and the existing link profile pointing into your website (and how best to leverage it).

If nobody is searching the domain name (not EMD keyword) then it's not really an authority on anything, it's just a large Amazon affiliate site.

The sites name is actually the fourth keyword after not provided x and y. Plus I have had a few keyword + site searches. Its not exactly an authority site yet but hopefully it becomes one. Its a branded site.

    - All of them. Diversity is a huge key when doing SEO for a big site.

What links would be build and what methods would you use?

    - Web 2.0, Guest Posts, Social Bookmarks or even Blog networks (if your budget allows) for Tier 1.

if you have decided to go for a mass-backlinking strategy -> all the links you can get your hands on to point to those Tier 1s.

    Have you tried Link Emperor?
It's very handy when it comes to building links on authority sites since it can build to as many inner pages as you want very easily.

Put the best efforts now, and after some time you will see results, even if you have backlinks from authority websites it need time to index and to understand your website to google, so in that time it will give you a chance!

Be careful building 'feeder sites' or 'doorway' sites/pages. If you leave a footprint you'll get penalized. It's easy to leave a footprint if you don't really know what you're doing.

There's a Matt Cutt's video somewhere about the perils of trying to get multiple sites into the SERP's.

I don't like the idea of building a site for years on end and getting penalised, so I think there are better options than getting burned.
