Developing a Teir One Hub...Which 6 or 8 Are Best?

Been out of the game for a while and begining to build my marketing plan and have been thinking about what tier 1 platforms to use to build a Hub around my money site.

I imagine facebook and Twitter are at the top of the heap, but what comes next as a platform to distribute content to?

Hubpages, Wordpress, Squidoo?

What Six or Eight sites would you use and why?

  That's the PR of their own home pages.
  
  When you can find a way to post your content on their own home pages, it may be helpful.
  
  Meanwhile, being guided by the page ranks of the home pages of those sites is kind of similar to imagining that you can get a good backlink out of Ezine Articles because it's own home page happens to be PR-6: sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your backlink there will still be on a PR-0 page - just like it will from the sites you've listed above (some of which you'd even have to pay to use, by the way).
  
  Websites don't "have page ranks": only pages have page ranks.

  None, though effectively I let other people do this for me, in a sense, by re-publishing my articles. But if trying to do it myself, I'd certainly do it on pages I myself own and control.

  That makes a lot of sense Lexy!
  
  And I have thought about this a lot and yes being in control of your content is very important.
  
  Still there has got to be places where there are eyeballs interested in your offerings and content.
  
  Additionally Link building is very crucial and your comment about having others republish your articles is great and especially if they are in related niche.
  
  I was thinking last night about creating a hub of small sites using my own domains as the Tier 1...If that is done I imagine you would need separate IP Addresses for each site as well!
  
  Still from a linking standpoint and also some of these sites have large numbers of users, so places like Tumblr and Wordpress.com. hubpages ect...must have some intrinsic value? I been away for a couple of years from the online business world so I am trying to re-think and look at my strategies...Don't want to waste time doing useless and meaningless tasks:confused:

  They're enormously high traffic sites, because of the various uses to which many put "their" pages there, but that isn't traffic that's visiting your pages there. They're all just subdomains on someone else's site, where they call the shots and can change the rules any time they feel like it (and do so, regularly).

  Or maybe everyone imagines so, and that's what makes it self-fulfilling. They "must" have some intrinsic value, otherwise everyone wouldn't be using them? How's that for a circular argument?
  
  The reality is that "everyone" is using them because they imagine (typically wrongly) that "they're going to rank more easily than a page of my own, hosted elsewhere". People get confused between the page ranks of a site's own home page (of no relevance in this discussion) and the page ranks of "their" page there. It's all nonsense, really. Even Google says so pretty openly and repeatedly.

  It needn't cost a penny to do this, instead, on pages that you yourself own and control. Don't listen to people who'll tell you that "they'll have less 'authority' ": it's nonsense.
