Yes, they do! Make sure you don't spam some random blogs...write good and useful comments on good and popular blogs and this will give you inbound links and some direct traffic, which is great. Also, you will build your reputation!

yes, building a quality back-link will definitely boost your page rank, but you have to consider how strong your competitor and how many comment that you need. If you just simply wan to improve your PR, you can make an informative and maybe funny comment in an authority site, probably five comments a day.

Yes, all, except the spam comments, till work- it just takes time, effort, and diversity in order for them to make a difference in your Google rankings.

Google wants the links to be natural and to come from many different sources. If they're not natural and/or they are all "dofollow" links and no "nofollow" links, it will not look natural to Google and they'll either have no effect or they'll have the opposite effect and Google will penalize you for it because it will look like you're just trying to boost your site's rankings (i.e. "SEOing" the site without "naturally" link building your site - that's why it takes time and much diversity of your links to actually boost your search engine rankings).

Additionally, social media is playing a more prominent part as well - therefore, relevant links on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ (of course! :-), LinkedIn, Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit, etc. will also play prominently in your search engine rankings.

Putting random comments on blogs that have little or nothing to do with your site, and especially if you are posting a comment just to post a comment (i.e. comments with no values) will do little to nothing to help your site. Again, it all comes down to naturally growing your site's influence- if you have a brand new site and build out thousands upon thousands of links within a day with the same anchor text that encompasses the same keyword, it's going to look very UNnatural to Google, and thus, won't help your search engine rankings (could even hurt them).

Spam blog comments don't work at all, moreover, you will get Google penalty if you do that. This is why I never again hire someone to make back-link for me. I am afraid I will pay people to ruin my page rank instead of increasing it.

I think blog comments works as long as you do the right way. Share valuable insights, don't spam. People easily notice if the comment is a spam or not, saying "Thanks for sharing the post" is not enough if you wanted to be successful generating traffic doing blog commenting.

Yes blog comments and no follow comments do work. I would recommend commenting on blogs relevant to your niche. Make sure the comments are relevant and useful.

Yes they work, but they're typically the lowest level of link - i.e. a foundation level or junk level link.

On their own they prove very little - if you had some social signals paired with them, they are likely to have a bigger effect, as search algorithms can see an agreement across the types that the page is useful and popular, and more importantly shared.

These are often good to redirect through a web 2.0 property so that comment speed and link text is less of a factor due to the domain authority.

Don't concentrate on this alone - make sure you do all sort of link building, social bookmarking, social media, forums, blogs, article marketing, guest posts and so on to get a better coverage.

The big thing here that is automatically going to get your site ranking well is fantastic quality unique content that really offers amazing value. People naturally share this.

If your comment is relevant to the blog you commented on then yes they do work. However, if your comment is completely unrelated to the topic of the blog it will be flagged as spam and no it won't work.

High PR blog comments still work and I use it very effectively for both traffic and backlinks. The key is to pick the right blogs to comment on.

1) Of course you will get backlinks..and traffic if you comment at active page...like problogger.net...good promotion strategy for new website...
2) Nofollow comment..Yes..diversified you links type...but the most important thing here is find a blog with active people as well...as an example, let's say problogger.net, even it's no follow but still a lot of people comment there because there a lots of traffic...

Here is a thing that many never seem to mention when talking about blog comments and blog commenting.

Look at it from an angle of driving traffic, and not the backlink. Whilst backlinks are important, if you go to quality blogs within a specific niche, and you leave your comment (without spamming) it will most likely get published, replied to, and even possibly have others interacting with you. If you then have a link to a niche related site, you are going to have people clicking through and over to your website.

Blog commeing is more about the traffic and interaction within the niche than JUST for the backlinks. Whilst the backlink is still good, I never even consider whether they are dofollow or nofollow.

The reason that many spam is down to the the fact that they do not want to do the work, or find it hard. My advice is look to visit quality blogs with traffic, interact with the community and leave your comments on these posts. You will gain backlinks, drive traffic and see success in doing so.

As a tip, learn to record all of the sites that you have commented upon, this way you can return and follow up. You can even return some time later and leave more comments.

The trick is not to comment on blogs for the backlinks or for search engines. Leave comments for the "people".

Read the blog post you are commenting on and make sure you understand it. Leave a meaningful comment that is relevant to the blog post and adds some value to it. Interact with the person who wrote the blog post and with others who have commented.

Making new contacts should be your main reason to comment on blogs - The backlink should be a bonus.

I don't care (and don't even check) whether any blogs on which I comment are no-follow, because I benefit from those anyway. All I care about is their quality and relevance. (I'd care about their traffic, too, if I could, I suppose, but I have no realistic way of measuring that).

No. They've never worked. And now they're more likely to do harm than good.

Clearly not, if you think about it. Not "all". Otherwise things like "do-follow" article directory backlinks would have value, which they obviously don't, and Google has made quite sure of that.

What matter are relevance and quality. Not so much "no/do-follow", not so much page ranks, and not so much "numbers of backlinks".

People who have already mistakenly decided that "no-follow" backlinks are no good for SEO may not be interested, but others who are a little more open-minded will find many threads here explaining/discussing interesting things about no-follow links: this one might start you off, and then there's more here, here, here, here, here, and so on.

If its legit, if its tailored, if its on topic, if its not mass posted, if its a REAL comment, then I don't see why it wouldn't work. But no, no more juice power. And even if it did, you will get in trouble.

They work in a variety of ways, I use to make $500 a month on Fiverr just for commenting on other people's blogs. The main reason why people need this is for these reasons:

- Quality backlinks
- Start a conversation their blog.
- Make the blog look popular to their readers
- Gain better business relations to other blogs yo comment on.

Blog commenting has been working for me. The key is to write good comments because if you don't you won't stand out from the other commenters and people won't click through to your site. The SEO benefit isn't what I care about I'm more into getting click throughs to my site. It's a great way to ethically steal someone's traffic.

Blasting thousands of random blogs with junk comments = does not work.

depends on the site, yes they work, obviously they won't have any effect if they are (NoFolow) however some people beleive it makes your backlining look natural to have both follow and nofollo links.
It also depends on the authority of the site the page rank etc, also how competitive your keyword is that your trying to rank, if its high then blog comments etc won't really make that uch difference!

If they are sending traffics then they are good, so try to comment on those blogs which are related blogs with high traffic and quality content.

I'd have to say it depends on your niche. For a lot of local service type niches, blog commenting can be a huge waste of time. I know for my niche it is. Because there are no relevant blogs that represent local traffic, talking about my niche. There are sites, not open to comments, but not open blogs.

So for me its a huge waste of time. I much rather do geotargeted YT videos.

Although I'd imagine for most niches, it is useful. Just not mine.

You really have to keep in mind either way how much time you're wasting typing comments vs another activity you can be doing that may produce better results.

Nofollow comments work now? - Matters not at the end of the day ... you must engage - you want the "reader to click through to your link not the robot!
