Before (couple years ago), i would build backlinks immediately after I set up my affiliate sites. And would get good serp results within 3-10 days and most of the sites are still there. But recently I was told to wait for atleast a month before I start building links. Is anyone else waiting? If so please share Why. Thx

  • actionplan,

No you don't need to wait. The people that told you that are probably doing something they shouldnt be doing and found it more effective to wait. Nadeem points out another good element to this. You shouldnt be building links in bulk or very quickly as this sends up a red flag. Links that occur naturally don't typically happen quickly unless there are extraordinary circumstances.

There are some good resources on link building here,

    Hope that helps,

If your waiting to build links it's because you want to wait, has nothing to do with SEO.

The time and amount have NOTHING to do with links and
"negative" SEO. Anyone that says they do, run from them.
Don't look back. That man who lives in the cave might be gaining on you.

Why do people keep asking these questions? No offense, but this
"caution" about links still must be passed around by some idiot guru.

      Name him please!

I've been getting good results building out blog comment backlinks from related sites, and from web 2.0 properties on different IP's in the first month. Then I ramp up inter-related links and more links to the web 2.0 properties, that again link to my money site.

I do this on a gradual, drip-fed pace that varies a bit by day, but overall keeps activity alive.

Depending on competition, this has helped me rank quickly and stay put.

    Immidiately

I start with some social profiles at facebook, twitter, youtube, google+

Then I make about 60-70 high PR blog posts that I schedule over a month time and often that's enough to rank. When that month finishes I am going to blast a few fiverr gigs at my site, just to see what happens.

    So far it ranks great.

For clients I take a more natural approach so that it happens all safe, but for my own sites I always like to experiment.

I tell all my competitors to wait at least 30 days before beginning to build links. Gives me a running head start

You can start building links immediately. Just remember to build links slowly and keep building to maintain link velocity.

Link velocity is nonsense, sure when you rank only with high PR blog posts that stay 1-2-3 days on the homepage then you need new links very often to keep up with the link juice, for the rest it's just nonsense.

    Zero point in waiting.

Just don't make this mistake of going the automated (usually Fiverr) rout and blasting a few thousand links to your site.

Go for a smaller # of higher quality links instead a larger number of junk links.

I usually wait a few days to a week, however reading this thread I will start straight away. I did think you might get punished for backlinking immediately but obviously not. I like learning new information!!

I start build backlinks immediately with manual blog commenting at HI PR domain for one month..

and after that start my campaign with magic submitter...

Just make it natural in velocity,

diversify your anchor text and backlinks type etc

and build your tier 1 at quality site...
