Yes, in my opinion. But, as with anything, it may not ALWAYS work.

Yes, it is still one of the most effective SEO strategies that can help your site rank faster. Just make sure your content is of good quality, vary your anchortext to avoid overoptimization, and build links from different authority sites. The link velocity should also be taken into consideration.

Yes. But if you want it to be a lasting strategy then make sure all your tiers are quality (to a certain extent, don't waste too much time on stuff like t3 though). I know a lot of people blast spam at their t2 and t3 but imo this is asking for trouble. Also make sure you always have the login details for your T1 links so you can easily remove them if Google somehow manage to penalise, which I really don't see how they can without totally remaking their entire ranking system (apart from maybe catching the spam tier builders). It is most likely on their hit list though and no doubt they are trying to think of something, as it seems everyone is talking about it recently.

It has already been dealt with as much as they can do as far as being on their 'hit list', so to speak.. the way they dealt with it was by detecting poorly spun 'spam'.. mainly for the obvious heavy hitter spam sites, but also includes tiered link pages as well. Everyone is talking about it because it seems almost too easy, and so everybody is worried about it. That been said, I wouldn't do poor quality on any of my tiers, even T2, T3, include pictures, video, spice em' up, the whole shot.. make them nice, if no other reason than to not raise any red flags. Keep it slow and natural, and you should do well.

Sounds to me like just a thought.

Thing is, you can still rank very well with crappy spun content and spammy back links when executed in the right way.

            However there are 2 things:

1: Most people don't know how to execute it in the right way and will never rank with spammy back links

2: And even when they rank it will not last for ever.

No problem of course when you calculate that risk as there are 2 ways to make money online, the fast & short term way, or the slower and long term way.

Old news.. that is, from what I see, pretty craptacular spinning though. Like Nik said though, spinning still works as long as it's executed the right way, and imho, not dead obvious.

It depends on your competition and what keyword you're after...and how you do your tiered link building...

If you choose a very low competitive keyword..you don't need any backlinks..just like one of my site..drawerdishwasherreviews.com...never made backlinks....but page#1....make few bucks...

The thing is to start get your hands dirty and learn from mistake...get the feel !! You feel me dude ?? And enjoy your work...

I just read something at a blackhat forum where people tried Xrumer and it turns out to be much more effective to point all links directly at your site instead of tiering it up!

Keep in mind that once you get involved with black hat / spammy links that you should approach it as a churn & burn strategy that will not last forever.

It makes totally zero sense to mess up your quality tier 1 links with a whole bunch of spam. It's whitehat or blackhat, mixing it is a bad idea!

Good point. If it works, then assume Google knows about it and they are probably working at ways to algorithmically negate it.

Spinning is weird because there is no end to how much time you can put into 1 spintax.

Like it use to take me 10 hours just to write a spintax, now it takes me about 20-30 hours just to do 1. Not only am I spinning deep (usually 7-10 levels for the sentence/paragraph level) but I'm reading, thinking and rereading everything I add. Everything has to read different, but have the same basic flow, which is not always easy.

But doing it this way, my articles come out excellent, and so far I've had no problems using them on all my tiers. However, I still mix in unique content using dragon naturally speaking. Then some of my other sites I just outsource everything. I like testing as many different approaches as possible. I think the real key with spinning is to just take your time and always do it the "right way". Also, for my money sites I never use spun content for my bigger keywords, usually just for my long tailed keywords (which are all geotargeted pages essentially). I also keep the links to those spun pages on my sub pages, not my homepage. So most of my traffic is seeing my high quality content, then all the long tail traffic sees the spun content.. which is traffic I wouldn't have had either way.

Haha, I am glad I am not the only one spending a few days spinning one article. I thought I was just a perfectionist madman for doing it. It's still faster this way than writing hundreds of unique articles though. It certainly is a real challenge though and personally turns me into a half alive zombie after a day of spinning. It has however improved my vocabulary to no end lol.

It still works but make sure that the content on the first tier is good so that your tier one properties are not deleted, build them as they where your own money site.

Then you build tier two, you can do that in two ways... smashing backlinks against it or what i have been done lately with good results is to create a tier two that is of reasonable quality and then ad a couple of 100 links a day at it.

I would say that all link building methods work but it should look natural to search engines.

Bingo! Tiered linking will ALWAYS work (as long as links do count!) because the entire web is a multi(billion) level tier itself!

So make random tiers, of course with good content, UPDATE it regularly, get social signals to the tier 1's, and make the tier 1's appear regular web properties as opposed to the 1 article spamsites.

In some cases, especially when building links that might not be considered high quality, it makes sense to build the links to an intermediary website before establishing a link from that website and on to the website you are trying to optimize for search engines.
