As far as recommendations I can only recommend myself obvious.

As far as some things to keep in mind or questions to ask the SEO that you want to hire I would start with:

    - What type of links do you build?
    - Will the links be build on high PR domains that you own?
    - Do the links have juice, and are these non blog comment links?
    - Will you use unique written content that surrounds the contextual links?
    - Do you use (spam) software to build the links?

In case of dealing with people with a private network you can ask:

    - Where are your sites hosted?
    - Do you use unique themes?
    - How long does my post stay on the homepage?
    - Again, do you use unique WRITTEN content and not some mashed up or spun content?
    - Are these blog posts or footer/sidebar links?
    - Do you use public blog networks?
    - Again, do you own the domains as in not using a network like ALN or SAPE?

In fact you can conclude the answer of that last question already based on the previous questions that you asked as SAPE doesn't offer contextual links and ALN is owned by tons of users.

This should weed out a lot of crap if not 99,9% of the links that are offered in the for sales section.

For the rest just use your common sense, when someone offers 200 links for $50,- and claims that it all comes with unique written content then you know it's total nonsense as a somewhat decent writer charges $5/500 words and the cheapest India writer that you can find charges $2/500 words. So yeah 200 links for $50,-, totally impossible unless you don't care about using spun content OR in case you try to rank a page on an authority site, like a press release or whatever, those properties you won't own anyway so you can go more aggresively on them but for your own website I would definitely not recommend it.

Hope this helps you and hope this results in you hiring me obvious I ain't gonna lie about it!

nik0, sorry for interfering but I can't agree with your SAPE experience. On the contrary, sape.ru does offer contextual links. This is a special feature of the Russian network and is called "Контекстные ссылки" (in translation from Russian: "Contextual links"). So, SAPE actually has the ability to provide such links, but you should know how to use this feature. You can read more about the benefits that make SAPE a unique service here: The Main Benefits of the SAPE Network | SAPE.RU Network Solutions. If you have any other SAPE related questions I will be glad to answer them

Make sure that the person you hire actually know what to do and that they actually do it and not outsource it.

That happens when the SEO dude is working in volume which is a great biz model, but no longer taking that route for a while for a while.

      m30jake.. couple things missing mate.

      Just SEO?
What about getting immediate traffic so that you don't have to wait months for earning $? Is your business set for business, how do you know you're ready for SEO? Not judging here, but from all the clients I use to take most weren't ready for business or I had to assist them re-do their entire business model so they can actually earn money on a consistent basis.

Right now I'll be asking for feedback as it seems April sucks again for a 3rd straight year, usual here. So amigo, suggestion, not just focus on SEO. Highly consider looking into getting ideal traffic(like me writing to you), making sure your site is to the very least decent to start converting and finally getting started. Just a lot to think as people no longer think about SEO long term and there's short term traffic you need to get, making sure you've a good conversion and keep testing every 100-500 visits to your main money pages.

I use to GET numerous clients and I am no longer doing that. Since you actually posted about finding an SEO dude, get back to me privately and let me see your site first. Today I refunded $197/per month AGAIN (twice now since I opened) because the niche was a pharmaceutical one (viagra pills, the like, just no way here) and the past client order instantly..kind of hard..but peace of mind will be even better from now on.

So let me see your site, check your linking history and if you've a do-able top 5 google ranking possibility for $XY$ I'll either recommend you to test a service or have you for me.

      Good weekend

        OH MY BUDHA

        April sucks again? Really?

Last year in January I started to sell SEO here, business BOOMED like crazy in April, from 5 orders to 30 orders a week.

Right now it's April again, the first week of this month my sales DOUBLED opposed to February.

Isn't it so that people get tax back in the US in April? Yup yup.

Nice tactic, commenting on someone that suggests to find an SEO that does the job himself and then quoting the OP with a sob story that it's so quite at your place. Hahaha, what a dude are you!

@OP: I am really not to sure if you want to chose an SEO provider that has few work in the most crazy busy month of the year! Unless you need some affection and someone to talk with in this still so chilly month (well in Europe then)

ps: I don't see you as competition as I have more work then I could ever dream of but this post made me laugh so hard that I had to respond.

Though you won't admit it (and I know I will read great testimonials of your untold wealth and business success) both of you must be really hard up for the work to be carrying on like this.

No you are dead wrong. April 15th (today) is the deadline to file taxes. Those people will not get their tax return checks until May. So there is no finance reason why April should be the big month you claim. Both you dudes should concentrate on selling the benefits of whatever genuine seo you really do.

I ain't familiar with how it works in the US, my writer from there mentioned something like that.

Benefits? We build links, you rank and get more traffic and if you know how to convert you make more money! Easy as that

I recommend you talk with nik0 about your SEO needs. He's a stand up guy around these parts which is a hard thing to find, so definitely consider him.

There are lots of sites that offer SEO services, you can try on Odesk, Elance, Warriors for Hire or Staff.com. Just choose the one that provides good service to their clients, if they have a recruitment team to help you pick the 'best' then that’s a plus factor.
