Do Adsense ads distract from your web page?

I know the Adsense ads are related to your site theme and I've always wondered if they distract viewers from the content and value of your web page.

Case in point, I was on a Real Estate web site and there were adsense ads for Rental Property and Apartments. Seems distracting to me!

Thanks,

Tom

Yeah, it seems distracting to you but if you are running an adsense site and loves experiements, this type of placement has always the nighest ctr...

I can see the distraction is good on a adsense site but what if it is your bread and butter site? Is it then better to avoid adsense?

      Thanks for the response,

if your article is about tutorial or manual or any steps, I will get angray if you post adsense in between steps... It depends on type of articles.. otherwise, place it on side bar or any place that is highly visible..

Hm. Almost sounds like you don't want the ads to take away from more important stuff?

Maybe it would serve you to decide what the purpose is for the site.... If you don't want people to click on ads and possibly not coming back to your site, maybe adsense is not in your best interest? (for this site anyway)

If the ads are well placed and properly matched with the theme, then I guess they are not distracting.

I would think it might, depending on how many Adsense ads you are using and the size. If you are creating a site just for Adsense, then distracting the users with your ads would be your purpose, right?

Even if you put your ads in place where readers can be distracted, it is useless. Better to place ads at the bottom of article so that visitor can click after reading...
