What's your experience with a .co domain? Have you had success ranking it on first page? There is a keyword that I want to target and only the .co is available but I am still unsure whether to go for it or not.

    .co is fine to rank.

why not get a non-emd and rank the brand instead?

I have said this before on board..I would reg any extension before .CO You will confuse your customer and have leakage to .com.

Oh yeah, I see your point. They might think its a typo or something. Thanks for pointing that out. I might have to go with the earlier suggestions to try ranking with a brand name instead.

SEO has nothing to do with a user typing something in....

That said, .co was the next gold rush of of extensions that
went bust for a lot of reasons. You can't just buy a domain
with the same exact thing as a dot com, net, org, whatever
that is established, and expect to rank. It just made
        domain sellers richer.

Get one if you want, but I believe they are still more
pricier than their counterparts. No need to spend the
        money.

More on typing in....the internet world, especially young
people, are growing up in a world where a whole plethora
of domain extensions, from .tv to .co, .be to .ly, and
everything in between is just another website.

Some people cannot shake the dot com feeling. Of course,
these people probably rue the day they stopped delivering milk
by horse wagon. I would imagine they have 8 tracks as well.
Perhaps even betamax..DVD or blue ray just does not roll off
        the tongue like VHS.

This brings up an additional point...i like your wording 'domain leakage'

That is exactly what is happening when you buy an EMD. You are 'leaking' searches to your competition who is trying to rank for those keywords.

      Think about it this way:

You have a site called toiletbrushcleaner.com and rank #5 on page 1. When someone who likes your site wants to visit they google toiletbrushcleaner and end up at your competitors site because it ranks higher.

If you had a site called bowlshine.com and people google bowlshine to get to your site...guess where you will rank? #1 and probably #2,#3,#4 as well...you get all the traffic you are supposed to.

And if your still worried about not having keywords in your url for some reason, just make bowlshine.com/toilet-brush-cleaner/%postname%/ best of both worlds.
