Is Adsense still profitable?

I was checking out my site at work. No Adsense ads pops up. I think they block all ads, facebook, youtube, and other sites here.
My questions is, what if all places and browsers start blocking ads? Do you think Adsense will be profitable in long term?

The majority of the world doesn't block Ads.

Adsense is doing just fine with earnings.

Adsense can definitely be a major part of your site's income. Can't hurt right? Rule of thumb is the bigger the ad space the better it'll do, and you'll always want to make sure to place three per page and all above the fold.

I'd say certain niches block ads - people that are heavy into technology, web browser technology and perhaps the savvy gamers. Outside of that I think it's pretty rare.

Of course AdSense is still profitable. Take a step back and look at it from Google's perspective rather than that of a website owner.

Google AdWords is Google's main advertising product and main source of revenue.
Google's total advertising revenues were USD$42.5 billion in 2012.[2]

    They are doing just fine.

yep...still profitable...but please dont make adsense your only source of revenue...Google is a VERY fickle creature and you never know when the rug will be pulled...I know several guys who were making 5-figures per month with adsense and got their accounts banned for no apparent reason...personally, google makes me really nervous for relying upon them as a sole source of revenue...

Sounds like the IT guy is smart enough to install adblock for all of the employees preemptively.

As far as earnings concerns, there isn't much to worry about. Only a small percentage of internet users actually know how to use adblock to begin with.

And the actual creators of the major browsers will never try to promote adblock into the mainstream, because it would go against their own company earnings to do so (Microsoft makes IE whilst earning from ads on Bing network, Google makes Chrome whilst earning from Adsense).
