How do you find your Google position

Is there a way to find out where you fall in the SERPs (Google) for certain key words?

I did a search for one key word and find my article at #7, but I would be interested to know where the others fall and if they are raising or falling. I figure there must be a way to do this without doing the search and then counting till you see your article. But I can't find one. My search for a resource gave me an answer that I couldn't understand what they were talking about.

I use a lot of add-ons from Firefox to find out my standings. Such as Rank Checker

I wrote a program that does exactly what you're asking. I've been trying to figure out if there's a demand for this service, and how much to price it.

Basically, I can take any number of keyword phrases, any number of domains to check against, and you tell me how deep (how many pages) to check through and my program spits out a comma separated file (you can import into spreadsheet or database) and emails it to you. I've thoroughly tested this and I run several thousand keyword phrase checks weekly, for almost two years now. I've been debating creating a front-end web interface for the data, but didn't want to if there was no demand.

So, realistically, would you subscribe to a service like this? If so, how much would you pay (be honest)?

I was thinking of pricing per 100 keyword phrases. I can check nightly, weekly, or monthly. So, for me to auto-check 100 keyword phrases, let's say, on a weekly basis, what would that be worth to you?

If I put a web front-end on it that graphed each keyword phrase over a timeline, how much would THAT be worth?

ehicks727, I am pretty cheap (ask my wife) and I am not making any money at this point on the internet (I did make my first sale the other day though) so I am not the right person to ask that question to. I don't think it has a real high value that you could charge a subscription to however. If you could set it up on a web site that is monetized with advertising, you might have something you could generate a little revenue from though.

Like I said, I am kind of tight with a dollar, and this is just an opinion.

Thanks for the feedback, and I appreciate your situation. I'm pretty tight too.

I designed this for an SEO firm to use that I was freelancing for. I no longer work for them and now just check my own keyword phrases weekly. I think this software is designed more for people who monitor thousands of keyword phrases on a regular basis... i.e. an SEO firm. I was literally checking the ranking for thousands of keyword phrases nightly.

Phase two of the project is to write something that detects a change in Google's cache for each page. When the cache date changes, then it sends an email with the pages that have changed, and we go out and change the content a little bit. This keeps Google visiting our pages more often.

So, this might not be so attractive for Internet Marketers, but probably for SEO firms that have to keep track of many, many domains, and thousands of keyword phrases.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback, and I WILL look into other ways to monetize... good idea.

Hi, I am interested but I am sorry I don't know how much I can part with to have it. Tracking my many rankings at the same time is one hell of a problem for me and so would have been overjoyed if you have the product ready. can you let me or anyone give it a trial? But i advise you to stay away from monthly fee as many peopel may not be willing to do such. But a one time fee will do if does all what you claim.

You can purchase a SERP checking tool like IBP and put in your competitors....thats what i do....and it keeps a running track so you can see their SERP's go up and down for each keyword

That Google page ranking thing looks like what I was looking for. Unfortunately you need a key from Google to use it, and they quit giving them in 2006, so if you don't have one, you are SOL.

    O well.
