is the Joe Archibald 40 day challenge method still viable?

Hello - I'm trying to rank for a specific key phrase and I'm wondering if basing my SEO strategy off the 40 day challenge thread is still a viable baseline strategy. I'm going off his e-book and the guide Pat Flynn from smartpassiveincome.com on the subject. Basically what I'm doing is creating web 2.0 anchors with spun articles then using unique article wizard to generate backlinks for my anchor sites which link directly to my niche site.

I can't seem to find any discussion on this strategy that is up to date for 2013, and my SEO knowledge is admittedly rudimentary, My web design(html/css ect.) is slightly better.

I'm not 100% going to rely on this to get the job done, and of course my main focus is providing quality content and making sure my spins are unique enough and not grammatical trash. I'm not sure if this is a good starting point for an SEO campaign for a niche site anymore or not, any advice much appreciated, is there anything in particular that I should also be focusing on, while starting out?

That's pretty much what most services offer now, is the whole build web2.0 and build tiers thing, he uses UAW to blast at his 2.0's

Does it work? I dunno, most people claim it does, but look at the backlinks to his site at security training. Seems like he blasts a lot more blog posts to it, to me it looks like he points uaw direct at his site

Which is what I do, but don't tell anyone my secret.

Unless your living in 2011, avoid it.
