Will google care if 1/2 of my content is from guest bloggers?

I dont know why, but I am very apprehensive about posting other authors articles on my website. Not because I am worried about the quality of their articles, I can control that by only accepting good unique articles.

It might be a jealousy thing, I only want my articles on my site. It almost feels like it's my girlfriend and I am letting other people kiss her.

Is there any danger to having a lot of guest blogger articles on my site? As long as I only accept quality articles.

Thanks

You either want guest entries or you don't.

I dont have any readers yet. And I dont want to be penalized for making poor decisions, thats why I came here and asked.

And Alexa, I understand and believe that sharing the same article among different sites is okay, I just wish other bloggers would realize this.

I tried explaining that point to several bloggers in my niche and they are brainwashed into believing they need original content.

So now, as a part of my traffic strategy, I am writing original articles for my site and other sites in my niche. Because I have a full time job and family, my time is limited, something has to give, so now I will accept other authors articles on my site, that way I can keep posting fresh content.

But before I did that, I wanted to hear what the experts here had to say.

So, thank you all for the advice.

There are some very good writers who would provide unique content, but not without them getting something in return. Frankly, without your blog having a large, established audience, I don't see any benefit to giving you unique content.

I'm a big believer in syndicating my content, but I have no problem creating a unique piece when I know it ends up gaining me a valuable backlink and targeted traffic. Until you can provide that value, you will be very hard pressed to find someone willing to write a unique piece, however.

It won't have an affect on rankings, don't worry about it.

Look at some of the big sites like livestrong or Muscle & Fitness. They have thousands of high ranking articles written by many different authors.

It doesn't matter who, or how many people are writing for your site. As long as you're publishing quality contact that people want to read and share.

Why do you care whether Google will care? The purpose of having guest bloggers has nothing to do with Google, surely?

Actually I think you perhaps shouldn't dismiss that point from your thinking quite so quickly? All my experience of the article/blog-posting business leads me quite strongly to suspect that, overall, the very best quality articles are all the ones produced by writers who won't be willing to submit "unique" content.

The idea of not syndicating any already-published content on your site certainly wouldn't be everyone's choice (and it isn't the choice of most of the world's leading news and sports websites, for a start, among countless others), and the reality is that insisting on that may involve a "quality compromise", in the long run.

    No.

And that's so whether they've previously been published or not.

This is amazing. I don't think there's a religious organization in the history of the planet that has been able to instill the fiery fear of damnation that Google has in a single decade over their silly rules.

It`s not an issue when the articles bring content that your readers like. Google is ok with guest posting, so don`t worry about where you get your content as long as you bring something new

I'm not sure you should be so flippant about what Google thinks.

They're a huge potential driver of traffic -- and although they may be a bit arbitrary with the way they throw down carnage -- they're an incredible traffic source.

From an algo perspective, it probably depends on the quality of the content and how people coming from google respond to your content.

    IE time on site/bounce etc..

If your site just looks like a giant content farm with crappy content that people hate, your odds are not so good.

It does not affect your google rankings. Just limit the external links for their post to one or two. I accept guest posts to my blog all the time and it actually frees up my time a little bit.

Although, its your personal choice to add guest posts or not, but as you alone cannot cover wide range of article topics so IMO it will be good to allow guest posts.
