Warriors,

If money or time was not an issue, what is the one thing you would do to promote a site to increase its rankings? To narrow it down further, what would be the most important link to get for a site?

Yahoo paid directory?

any others?

    The key is to get links from other sites in your niche with a higher page rank then your own. These may or may not cost depending on your niche and sites that you approach.

    Any link that is relevant is a good backlink. If you can get a backlink from a page with high PR and that have less out bound link, then that will worth more.

      "in content" on topic .gov and .edu links from pages that have age are by far the most powerful links. By this i mean, a link with targeted anchor text that is surrounded by related content to your site. Pages with age are weighted more than new pages. Unfortunately these links are hard to come by, but if you can get one or two of them, they're much better than 100 off topic links.
