Multiple Domains - new sites or redirect?

Hi Everyone,

I dont know if anyone has started doing this yet but I have noticed a few companies doing it.

For example my website is purplecontracts.com and main keywords are car leasing, car leasing deals, cheap car leasing etc.

For SEO which of the below is best:

Buy carleasing.co.uk, carleasingdeals.co.uk, cheapcarleasing.co.uk and create new websites and new content hoping that if someone types in 'car leasing deals' into Google, hope it will rank?

OR

Buy carleasing.co.uk, carleasingdeals.co.uk, cheapcarleasing.co.uk
and point them to my original site purplecontracts.com. Is there any benefit for SEO doing it this way??

    By buying three domains and redirecting them to your main domain, there is no benefit at all. Once you redirect or point these new sites to the main site you already own, the search engines are going ti update their database over time. In future, when you type in these three new domains, they will end up on the purplecontracts.com site

    You are better off buying a relevant domain and create a site/sites and optimize it for search engines. That site at least has a chance of ranking in future for a specific keyword that you may have in mind.

    In this case there is no use in redirecting. Create it as a site with fresh content, this helps a lot.

    Else do this, create a 5 page website and create link on the menu that points to the main sites.

    For SEO, redirecting old domains to your main domain will transfer all the backlinks "juice" pointing to your old domains to your main domain.

    Other benefits include traffic which gets sent to your main domain.

    Just buy a domain that is memorable and easy to brand, if you want to get to the point of getting type in traffic. If not go for an EMD.

    ...and the redirecting idea wont work.
