I belong to several paid membership services that include a blog as part of the service. I wish to post on all of these blogs.

If I create the same post on all the blogs will this hurt me in google with duplicate content?

I would say test it and let us know...
But I think you can put the same content with a bit of re-phrasing it. So that it would not be exactly the same but very similar if you are worried.

    Yes it will.

Only the first post will count...

As mentioned above, test and find out what happens...

It never hurts to make slight changes in the content to make it a little bit different, and will only take a minute or 2. Change 2 or 3 synonyms and maybe change the main keyword and add a secondary keyword or two.

I have 2 or 3 duplicate articles, but I re-write or re-word alot of the content to direct toward my keywords, this has not effected my results or caused a current high page to drop in ranking (yet)

Thank you for this post. I think it is best to rewrite (not spin) the content.

The answer is no: it will not "hurt you with duplicate content".

The reason for that is a very simple one: it wouldn't be duplicate content!

You're confusing "duplicate content" and "syndicated content", here. (And it looks like the people initially replying, above, may have had exactly the same confusion, too - it's a very common point of confusion). They're actually two completely different things. Just to make it really clear for you, the differences between the two are briefly explained in this post and this little article.

What you're describing is actually very similar to the business model of "article syndication". The world's leading sports and news websites clearly wouldn't be syndicating almost all their content from places like Reuters and Associated Press if there were any potential SEO problems involved in doing so, would they?

As Alexa said it will not hurt you because of "being duplicate content".

I do not really worry about writing unique content for fear of G00gle slapping me for some SEO infraction. Pre-Penguin update, I was concerned about that (maybe for good reason, maybe not).

Now, I will slightly change content by replacing a few synonyms, changing the sentence structure in a few sentences, but most of all, replacing the main keywords of the content. Example : if the main keyword of the article was "solar panels at wholesale prices" I would change it to "lowest prices on solar panels" each time it appeared in the content.

I would do the same with other secondary keywords if I found any in the content. By doing this, you increase your chances of it being found my people who are searching for different keywords, as well as not just spewing out the same exact article all over the place. At least it will be somewhat different and fresh.

That's not selling your article writing service too well, is it?
