Google not INDEXING my site

I created a new site close to 2 weeks ago now, and it is still not indexed. I have tried everything, so if your answer is going to be "build high quality social bookmarks" please don't even answer...

I have done A LOT to get this goddamn site indexed, and nothing is working. I know it takes time. I have never waited longer than 2 days tops.

I AM NOT talking about RANKING...so please don't answer regarding that. I am talking about typing in site:mydomain.com in Google and there are 0 results.

Here Is What I Have Tried

  • Social bookmarked several of my pages/posts
  • Added to Google Webmaster Tools
  • Submitted sitemap to WMT's
  • Verified www and non-www version of site in WMT's
  • Created a video, linked from video to site
Video was indexed in 4 minutes, so the link to the site is hardly a secret, and I don't care if it's nofollow...Google still can see it and I'm sure they will check it out.
  • More bookmarks
  • Linked from relevant (and quality) Squidoo lens site to the site. Again, I don't care if Squidoo is now nofollow..this has helped me 100% of the time prior to this.
  • Pinged
  • Created more fresh content, pinged that
  • Set up Google authorship for the site
  • Checked robots.txt to make sure I wasn't blocking search engines - Just checked again
.
  • Checked for errors
  • Checked for noindex
  • More bookmarks
  • More quality content just like Matt Cutts loves
  • Tweeted a link to the site

Does anyone have any other suggestions? Has this happened to anyone before?

Questions someone will undoubtedly ask me:

Is the site "thin" or "low quality" - NO! I have created 1 page sites with 2 sentences on the front page for tests...they have ALWAYS been indexed in a matter of hours.

I am not trying to be rude or anything, but 95% of the people who answer questions here DON'T READ and will give me advice that I thought of in the first 10 seconds of the site being live.

There's a big list of things I've tried above...please refer to that before telling me to "create quality content" or "do some high quality social bookmarks"....sigh

Thanks

Interesting... I would suggest you to build even more links + use "statistic" sites. IF that not helps then check your domain history. Maybe it was deindexed before, maybe it has some really ugly backlinks etc..

      Thanks.

I forgot to put in there, I did look at the wayback machine and the last time the domain was in operation was 2010 and it was a pretty normal looking site.

It's a local keyword type site as opposed to a site about iPads or something you would typically see more bad types of links.

Majestic SEO and Ahrefs had no information on any links at all to the site. I don't know how long a true Google "penalty" would last, but you would think after 2 years of not being used it would get a clean slate..

      Thanks

Did you use Fetch as Google?

I had a site that was previously indexed years ago and waited a few days until I used that to get it indexed. It still took about 5 days overall.

Just throwing this out there, was this domain purchased from someone? Or is it brand new?

I bought it from Godaddy. I looked on wayback machine and it was a working domain last in 2010. I don't know Google's timeline for how long a site would be in a penalty state, but I would think 3 years of the domain sitting idle would be enough...

Wouldn't be shocked if not though.

It is a city + keyword domain...pretty simple.

I had this issue with one of my sites. Can't remember exactly, but I think the domain was dropped in 2009. I didn't know it at the time, but it had been de-indexed due to bad links pointing at it. It took me a couple of months to figure out that my site wasn't indexed as I was a newbie When I figured out the problem I sent a request to Google explaining the situation and they indexed my site again.

So there is still the possibility that it has been de-indexed and won't be re-indexed until you send a request to Google, even if it was dropped in 2010.

It seems you have done most things that should work.

One thing i cant see is that you could ask Google for a reconsideration of your site through webmaster tools.

You seem to have tried everything else - good luck

In the past, the only thing I've ever needed to do to get a website indexed is...

Make a sitemap with this tool and add it to my website.

Ping the sitemap with this tool.

Usually my new domains are indexed within 24 hours after doing this. No link building required.

If this doesn't work for you, then maybe you bought a domain that previously had a Google penalty? Just a thought.

    Thanks all..it is truly mind-boggling.

I asked Google groups, but I'm sure they will just say "add quality content" like a bunch of sheep.

I'm sure one century the stupid site will get indexed.

I don't see where you mentioned doing a press release. The problem with what you mentioned of your link profile is that pages where your link is conceivable have not been crawled.

as for the wayback machine - it doesn't do anywhere near a great job at covering sites so its entirely possible the site could have been in operation less than three years ago and not show up.

If you do some press release sites (great for indexing only really because news sites are crawled so often) and still see nothing after that you may have picked up a bum domain.

Thanks...something new! Yea, wayback machine sucks, but it is all I could find to check it.

I think I am going to try a press release and/or a reconsideration request and see how that works.

      Thanks a lot.

It's different from wayback machine, but hoster stats provides the last time a domain was bought/transfered/deleted/etc. You might want to check if the domain was in use recently.

I would try getting a bit of traffic via $20 worth of Google Adwords, maybe with some constraints on geography. I'm pretty sure Google will have to index the site as part of the Adwords setup process. It may be the indexing reset that the site needs.

Matt Cuts has said specifically that parked domains get a penalty when sitting idle to long without content etc. And that it takes Google a little time for reindexing the site back into Google. The way he made it sound was that it took several weeks to get reindexed, not 2 days and maybe more then the two weeks you've waited.

You should do good research but its just not true what you said about chances are previous owner did something shady because the domain was expired or deleted. All that means is the previous owner either went out of business or is no longer interested in the site (And sometimes it just means they didn't get the notices the domain has expired)

I've purchased tons of domains and a large number have spammy links and got deindexed by Google.

Most of the good domains get picked up in Prerelease or Pending delete. I am not saying every domain is bad, but you must be super careful when you see a great domain that nobody else wants.

Assume something is wrong until your research proves otherwise. Matt Cutts even made a video suggesting you start with a fresh domain name in most cases. If you want to pick an expired one, then do thorough research first.

Sometimes with refurbished domains it can take a month to get indexed, keep posting content, google won't let a legitimate growing site stay out of it's serps for long...

I think this has something to do about link velocity. I might be wrong but from what I read from what you have done I think you just did what you have to do. I think you just have to wait for a couple of days and hopefully be index.

Link velocity? You mean the speed at which I am building my backlinks?

Considering I have built 0 links to the site, I don't think link velocity was my problem, but thanks for your insight...

I am not really sure what is the problem but you can look at if your site have got backlinks in any banned website. This can be a cause too.

    Quick Update

For any lost soul that may find this later....

I finally just filled out a reconsideration request to Google. I have not heard anything yet, but magically today I noticed a few pages started getting indexed.

I don't think it's a coincidence...I think the domain was bad, but so far it looks like the reconsideration is going to be pretty quick and I can even see my mug so authorship and everything else is working.

Thanks for all of your suggestions and help!!

    Final Update For Lost Souls

I just got this from WMT's so it looks like it was penalized back in the day. Kind of a waste of time to test something on a troubled domain, but now at least I know that the reconsideration process is easy and pretty fast.

We received a request from a site owner to reconsider www.site.com for compliance with Google's Webmaster Guidelines.

Previously the webspam team had taken manual action on your site because we believed it violated our quality guidelines. After reviewing your reconsideration request, we have revoked this manual action.

I find that if a tweet doesn't get my site indexed then the problem lies with the website or the content of the website (i.e. in this instance).

By content I meant Google penalties for KW stuffing, over-optimization etc. This is why I always rank sites first then add content later. With my methods on low/medium KWs I am able to rank to page #2 with zero content purely on the strength of my backlinks.
