Google Adsense advice please

I have a site which is getting around 300-500 unique organic searches from Google and I am looking to monetize this traffic. I have been using Google Adsense and only making between £1-£2 a day.

My CPC is around £0.20, which is very low, but I have more experience with clickbank and amazon but not sure how to get more click thrus and higher CPC.

What works better for you?

Banners with just "texted" or banners with just "images" or both?

I want to help increase my CTR too and at the moment its around 2%, I have banner on the left and the right surrounding my content which I feel does work well, but need to try and monetize these 400 uniques daily.

The niche is about an animal, so that is why its a hard niche to monetize and there are no products to promote as such, I want to stick with adsense but with not got much experience with adsense.

I don't want to give the niche out, because its a gold mine for traffic but just need a bit of adsense advice to help squeeze as many clicks.

Thanks

Larry

Could you commission or write a short ebook. Ie. if your niche is rabbits. It could be about how to train/feed/wash/have fun with rabbits. Use this as a free giveaway to build an email list. Then market to your list.

You may do better with Amazon affiliate or a large online petstore affiliate than adsense.

If you really want to stick with adsense...just keep testing various ad sizes and placements and track your tests...use this information to keep improving. Some niches just don't convert well and don't click on ads.

I too have a site getting 500-800 unique visits per day but only getting around .10 - .20 dollars a day.. I guess, it's because I'm in a niche where the traffic simply does not convert..

Yeah, my niche is VERY difficult to monetize, there are no products as such, but about to get on top for another keyword which will bring traffic above 1000 uniques daily, so that will give it a big boost.

I think ill play around with the placements for now and see what i can do.

      Thanks guys!

Perhaps you would be better of selling adspace on a website like buysellads?

I second BuySellAds - I have a site I put up on BSA which got dismal CPM - The site gets around 150k visitors a month. I moved over to BSA and it took a while to get some consistent advertisers but once I did, they stick with me monthly and I was able to monetize the site EXTREMELY well, on top of that use their unreserved program to fill extra ad space not sold directly. Site makes around $1,200 a month now, with adsense alone it was making about $150 a month.

          Larry,

One thing to keep in mind with BSA - Sometimes it can take a couple tried to get accepted into their network. I had to apply a couple times and even email them for them to let me in. They get hundreds of submissions a day and only accept 5% or so into the network. Just a heads up!

People, people, people. Don't you know that every visitor to your
website is human? They eat, sleep, buy things, drive cars, travel, you
    name it.

    Niche does not matter.

What gets people to NOT click an adsense ad is many faceted.

    Ad in the wrong place.
Too much info presented and solves my problem. Why should I click?
Too much clickable stuff above the fold that is not an adsense ad.
Your site just sucks to a visitor. They don't want to even look.
yada yada yada...to much to list.

If you have a car insurance site, and you present ways to find quotes,
get tips, lower the cost, etc., why on earth would anyone in their
right mind click an ad for car insurance? Unless of course, that's what's
    presented up front and center.

Adsense is not really about SEO, althought the adsensebot works in
tandem with other googlebots. You want a site designed for a click.

Contrary to popular belief, google has NEVER said to not put ads above
the fold, in your face, etc. THEY WANT A CLICK!

If you want ads in your nich, you need targeted traffic. But the thing is,
you don't necessarily need targeted traffic for a click. Mindless is a different
matter. That's why when I watch the food network, I see very few ads
related to cooking. If people only knew.
