Quick word to those who build SEO networks - They Love Them Some Content

I don't normally start SEO network threads (you can check I'm in plenty but don't start them often) but I am making an exception because of something I am seeing over and over and over again.

Guys (and gals)

YOU MUST put content on your new domains. The job is not over after buying domains and installing wordpress on them. I don't mean one post either. You have to put something on them that helps to keep the links in place. You are not buying toolbar PR - you are really buying the domains that HAVE LINKS. Those links are on other sites and can and often WILL be removed if you put nothing at all on your site (plus putting up no content except one with a keyword link is even more obvious than a rental blog network ). This is even more so the case because most people have not learned how to analyze for links that will survive.

IF you don't have time to put the content on them then DON'T buy them until you do and if you don't have content already then FIGURE THE COST OF SOME CONTENT INTO YOUR BUDGET.

I won't say how or why but in an inventory I Took recently Most people are not putting up much content on the domains they are buying. I even find PR3s that have no content on them SINCE AUGUST of last year. Buying domains is not like buying software that you can pick up and use any time you get around to it. Aged domains will lose their value the more links they lose.

Weird things is (well not so weird to me anymore) is that some of the PR3 from August last year have no content , lost all links long ago but have remained PR3 (only in the toolbar) through two updates. Don't let the public toolbar tool fool you (Google doesn't care two hoots about it because it uses its own internal PR not THE TOOLBAR pr) a site that has lost its links has no value whatsoever.

IF you even have to run over to Iwriter to get two cheap articles its better than nothing at all. shucks even articlebuilder (which I hated when I tried it ) is better than nothing.

I'm actually in the process of building my own network after a client bailed on me and left me high and dry with tons of purchased content and great domains. Before doing anything I wrote out the monthly cost of content and duration, it's a total bleed of cash but if you can offset that with some huge payoffs it's worth it (in my case at least.)

I agree with you Mike Anthony, BUT there are some sites that dont update nothing ( normally static sites) and keep theirselves on the TOP of Google results for the keywords they advertise. Maybe because a combinatinon of the domain they picked and backlinks built. But onpage never changes.
An example - trabalheemcasaoverdadeiro.com.br ( brazilian site, on top of Google for "trabalho em casa" , " trabalhe em casa" for more than 6 years )

It seens Google knows its a static site and doesnt need to update content. Maybe if it was a blog, it would have lost plenty of positions.

Also, if you cant keep your network regularly/actively updated with content then youre going to suffer from stale links.

Dont just stop at putting up a place holder page.

Stale links are almost as much of a drain as links coming from non-relevant sites.

We have a 400 word, hand written article on the front page, with our links in it. We have a custom header graphic for each, and different colours etc.

Each site also has three other internal pages, each with a 400 word article.

We also have about us/contact/sitemap/privacy policy.

That's our basic startup content for newly acquired domains.

Its because not all people capable of creating their own high quality content. That's exactly one of the reasons why CurationSoft is created. I highly suggest making On-Page optimization first as what OP stated and not just blast the hell out of other blogs with links right after buying the domain and installing wordpress.

The property market which I understand, not allow to get any writer to write article because any content that put in the site, must be truth and verify by different government bodies or from market specialist. Moreover, cannot use their articles or newspaper articles on the website due to copywrite issue.

What I can think of is to explain the product in general which eventually will ended up not much to write.

I don't understand why you wouldn't have content ready to rock.

At least for my PBNs, I already know ahead of time what the niche the new addition is going to be...way before I get a dropped domain. It's not like you have to wait to see the domain before getting your content.

So I have a cache of content ready to rock. That way, when I get a domain it's a matter of copying and pasting stuff that's sitting on my hard drive.

Not even talking about updating content. I am talking about having some content on the pages to begin with

Well in fairness the ones I was able to see are the ones I had either delivered or built for them. Thats how I knew to check them. Worse they had access to training but no go on content months later. IN my audit some did but far more did not. Not even just PR3s either, PR4s and Pr5s and yeah I am sure that a few will even write me and ask whats happening when the next update or two or three the PR goes down.

I guess people just get busy or they start running down some other rainbow. I bet there are ton load of SENukeX subscribers that have not fired it up in months either. You can take a horse to water but you cant make him drink.
