Hi,

A few weeks back, I had taken part in a discussion in which I had discussed about my site's performance, and had several views. Well, I thought its high time I update about my website's performance.
Ok, so I had ordered a product review site from Tom in January.

Like I had mentioned, my site wasn't generating good traffic, and the picture wasn't rosy. This was until the first week of April. But in the 2nd week of April my website's traffic suddenly surged. From 12, 16 clicks a day, it rose to 35 and then to 50 clicks (visitors) a day (according to Google webmaster). While I know that is not a very encouraging number in the SEO world, where people are getting 500 unique visitors, the fact is that my site is just 3 months old, and 50 unique visitors a day is pretty good. (Though my Statpress show higher visitors ~ 130+). Don't know what is right!

Anyways, with visitors, my earnings increased, and I have earned ~ $100 this month from 2nd week onwards. The screenshot is attached! Overall, my site has earned ~$160 from January.

So this is what I did -

1. I have been adding content regularly. There's not a day when I go without it (minus Sundays ). Fresh content keeps getting the bots to my site. I have to add here that Wolfiimii's sites are very search engine friendly. My site has been crawled by all the spiders that exist in the world! - Baidu, Googlebot, msnbot, Yandex, Yahoo, whatever! And I am getting search queries from Google (of course), Yahoo, Bing, AOL and even Ask! Currently my site has over 130 reviews. Plus I am adding a few articles as "Shopping Guides".

2. I got a little bit of link building done way back in mid-march. I don't know if that has helped or not. I am wondering if I should get anymore link building done... I haven't created any Web 2.0 sites for this website. Should I?

3. Once most of the products that I have reviewed started showing on the first page of Google, I targeted one product with high competition. Well, I was happy to see that review in the 6th position after 4 days of reviewing it. Currently it bounces between 6th - 10th position. So I was thinking whether the time is ripe to go for high competition products.

This is what is happening -

1. Search results are not always for the products I have reviewed. I get search queries for the kws I haven't targeted. But I am satisfied as that means more traffic.

2. While most of the traffic is from the US, I am getting lots of traffic from UK, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Canada. I really want to convert that...!

Well, I don't know where my site will go from here - whether it will go north or south - but there's excitement and anticipation everyday.

In the meanwhile I have started working on my other website that I had bought from Tom. Its in nascent stages and has traffic from Yahoo! Lol.

I am also planning to follow Yukon's advice for posting on niche forums, as that will bring in niche traffic.

Finally, I want to thank Tom and several other warriors here who have posted useful information, which has really helped me a lot.

This is a very similar story to mine I feel these sites take a couple of months to start to get there ranking.

I am now doing reviews and they are going straight into the top10 then moving into the top3 within a week.

I am thinking of making 1 site with low price tag items to try and get my commission % up I may even do a live case study.

Yes, patience is the key. In takes lots of time and content to start ranking. Are you into link building also?

No link building, I do want to test a site to see if link building will increase sales

    Outstanding manishak!

You now have a fairly filled out site with lots of content. I suggest trying to target more competitive products and terms now while continuing to hit the easy ones. Interlinking your posts wouldn't be a bad idea either.

    Keep working at it!

Thanks Tom. That'a a great idea! Also, do you think Web 2.0 sites are essential for my main site?

Yes, they are. All of my sites are large (over 100 products) and target late-stage buyers. Many of the products that I target produce sales of less expensive accessories.

Try to do link building for competitive keywords that will do wonders for your revenue and keywords as well. I guess you are receiving traffic for keywords that are not competitive, try to analyze the keywords that are competitive and target them based on that.

Wow! That's fantastic! How often did you update your website? And how many websites do you have that generate this kind of income?

not often. Maybe once a month. I took like a year break. I got bored of the project. I'm starting something else that I like better but it isn't making much.

So did you update the site initially very often? Because I am also planning to reduce the frequency.

For the first 2 years I only make $5-$15/month. I stopped posting for a long time and then somehow my site started raking better. That's why I'm worried that I'll lose everything once google changes their algorithm. Its all a fluke. Don't take my advice.

I posted 90% of my content in the first 3 months.
