$10 a day in Adsense on my site - where next?

I review comic books on my site and it currently brings in an average of $10 a day in Adsense. I have just over a 100 reviews written so far.

Visits avg = 200 p/day
Page views = 650 p/day

I'm new to this and I feel like the Adsense earnings have happened by accident rather than by anything I'm doing. I was wondering if you guys knew what I should do next to take this forward?

I tried a few posts targeting some decent-traffic keywords but they didn't rank very well.

For me Adsense is just a waste of time, one of my site gets 40 unique hits per day & I make more than $2000 from it by selling a product created by me.

Try to sell some stuff to your traffic , try CPA offers What is your site is about ?

Does CPA converts better than Adsense?
Again, his niche is comic books.

I just wanna tell you that most of the links in the signature are trash and/or a trap to make you pay!

If the comics you are reviewing are available in Amazon, then that would be your best bet.. and you will be earning more that 10 dollars a day..

You're right. In his case CPA might not be the best approach.

That's why I tell anyone that will listen that you need to choose a market/niche BEFORE looking at keywords.

I've made that mistake before. I once hit #1 for a 50k exact match term. I was getting 2k visitors per day to that site but couldn't make jack from them.

Even then, CPA did better than Adsense.

In the OP's case, think about the demographic of your traffic: probably older single guys (no offense, I love comic books, but lettuce be cereal).

There are a lot of non-scammy dating CPA offers. Just look at torrent sites which have a similar demographic: they tend to promote dating offers all the time.

Selling a product is difficult as I'd have to create a new comic book. It's not impossible, but it would be a massive project for me.

The site is about comic books, I review them and post about things like 'The Top Ten Superhero. Comics' etc.

In my opinions, selling product can earn more money than Adsense. Even Amazon is better than Adsense.

Unless the Ads are for rare comic books, I would be surprised If the CPC was very high. IMO, about all you can do is increase traffic.

If your not building an email list, start doing that now, at the very least a Feedburner email list to help retain traffic.

I seriously doubt any CPA exist for comic books, I could be wrong, but I've never seen anything that even remotely would be suitable for that niche.

Sure there's random CPAs to target people in general, but that's just a haphazard way to try & get conversions. Reminds me of people trying to sell Krispy Kreme donuts outside of Walmart (get the H of my way) lol.

It's not as random if you target demographically.

Again, demo targeting isn't ideal ( it's just a backup plan for when you have untargeted traffic).

But even those Krispy Kreme donut sellers are onto something: I'm sure they make more at Walmart selling donuts than they would selling carrot sticks or apple slices.

Let me just begin by saying, "congratulations!" I'm actually a little surprised that no one else mentioned it, but it's not necessarily easy to generate $300 in recurring monthly revenues exclusively from Adsense. It's not unique, many others have done it, but many, many, many others have failed to reach that number. Generally, successful Adsense sites are themed around a very commercial buying niche where inbound traffic comes from search engines serving up results for people who are really looking for an opportunity to buy what your site is themed around, like shoes, as opposed to information. Adsense serves commercial sounding headlines, which normally turns people off somewhat, but is exactly what an Adsense-motivated traffic source was searching for in the first place.

Even with highly commercial sites, with traffic coming from "commercial" keywords", it's not at all guaranteed that you'll get the clicks. It's a little hard to predict what will work and what won't. I'm guessing that your site is succeeding despite the fact that it breaks many of these conventions and assumptions about Adsense traffic and conversions. So, congratulations.

It's a little hard to evaluate whether page layout and adsense block placement might enhance your site's performance without first seeing your site. Google has good information on ad placement. Beyond that, the other posters are correct, your next move is to add more traffic and/or add a monetization strategy that delivers a greater per transaction payday. In my experience with many niches, CPA offers are going to be much more difficult to convert, but others have clearly had great experiences. It's also a lot harder to sell an info-product than to obtain a click on an Adsense block. I mean, with Adsense you may have no sales skills at all and still clean up, both the market-fit and the copy is being worked out by others. But, I see no reason not to add another monetization strategy and test it out -- so long as it doesn't alienate visitors.

    Best of luck!

I absolutely agree with @Brandon martin. There are thousands of people are making more than $300 per month. Even $1000+ per month. But millions have failed and given up with adsense.
I would also like to congratulate @Harrylepoo and wish him best of luck and success for the future.

Keep writing and building traffic, take the 10$ a day and invest it back into your site, hire an SEO guy if you want, or learn how to do SEO. That way you can get more traffic.

Or use it to hire writers. Then keep building up, or take the 10$ a day and buy another site. Just get creative you'll do fine.

Thanks Brandon, Dale and Slin. From hanging around this forum I know that $300 is a drop in the ocean, but I enjoy what I write about, I get a kick out of interacting with people who come to my site and the extra cash lets me buy more graphic novels to read and review. It's a sweet deal, but I just think I'd kick myself if I didn't try to make more out of it.

There aren't any CPCs that I'd be comfortable offering. The products available just don't relate to the niche enough.

I was thinking of trying Amazon, but I have read from some sources that Google frowns on Amazon affiliates and could penalise my site, meaning I'd lose traffic and lose adsense income.

This might sound stupid, but I also think that if someone on the site clicks through an Amazon link, then I'm losing a person who might have clicked a Google ad. And Google Ads pay me for every single click, whereas an Amazon click through probably won't result in a sale. Don't you need a massive volume of Amazon clicks to make anywhere close to $300 a month?

That's why you build an email list, like I mentioned above, for helping to retain traffic.

If your not building an email list, start doing that now, at the very least a Feedburner email list to help retain traffic.
Sounds like you have a decent site, hats off to you for that. I see a lot of people on here that I think want the freedom of working online, but they can't get the thought of money out of their head so they end up doing anything to make a nickel & forget about creating useful content.

Like I said above, with such a low CPC niche I think your only option to increase Adsense revenue is to increase traffic on your site, I don't think you'll have a problem doing that since your actually interested in the content.

You could still create your own product & run Adsense at the same time, the product doesn't necessarily have to be a comic book. How about converting your existing 100 reviews into kindle ebooks? You already have some content for kindle & that's traffic you might not have on your site, since kindle is only an ebook reader. Even If you make the kindle ebooks free, that's still a lot of potential new traffic that will find their way back to your site, just make sure to promote your site in all the ebooks.

If you see a lot of traffic on the kindle ebooks, bump it up to $0.99 & see how that works out.

I'm a believer that anything can be monetized, you just have to match the traffic with a relevant offer/product, test things & see what works best for your own site.

Thanks Yukon. I have a feedburner list with 50-something subscribers, but I removed the sign up link months ago because I didn't know what I was trying to achieve by having the list; I was just doing it because I read somewhere that it's good to build a list.

Come to think of it, I set it up so that every single post I make gets emailed to subscribers. I hope that's not pissing them off.

If your looking for using CPA on a site like this you will more than likely not find anything comic book related.

However... if you look at things like Google ad planer, and quantcast etc...

You can target the audience on other things they are interested in, that there may be a CPA offer for.

So your not targeting the niche, just the audience interests outside comic books.

I wouldn't worry about being an amazon affiliate, never heard that it'll push you down in the serps.

You could always make a review page or something, your favorite comics, with links to buy them from amazon.

Or, get those subscribers, and you could email them whenever you find some new cool comic or something on amazon, email an offer like once a week, if you get a big following you could probably do pretty well with that.

      agreed...

Just don't use bare clickbank links if you use anything from there to monetize the site. They will penalize you for those links.

Tested on 3 different sites... add clickbank links, sites moved to about page 34+ from page 1. Waited a week... removed clickbank links... back where I was in about 2 weeks to 30 days.

But when I changed them to redirects, never had any real issues after that. Some I also changed to just a lander, that they had to click through again to get to CB.

Just FYI for any of your monetization ideas.

Not familiar with pretty link lite... But if it is pointing to your site, as if it was another page there. I haven't seemed to be penalized for that.

However, like I was saying... I have since started actually sending people to a warm up landing page, that is a real page on my site. Because a lot of the stuff I am sending them to, doesn't always do very well at selling them, or warming them up to the idea.

You have 2 things which you can sell in your website First is T-Shirts printed with Comic Book Stars or whaever & second I would suggest you write your own Comic Book , If you can't than just hire someone from Fiverr or Odesk..But start building an Idea & Concept of it.

If your traffic is of Comic Lovers I am sure they would love to purchase a new one now just imagine your earnings grow:-

You make a Comic Ebook Set the price to $9.99
    Sell T-Shirts for $29.99
With 200 Unique Targeted Hits 1% will convert for sure
Total Sale from Comic Book in a day is $20
Total Profit from selling 2 T-Shirts a day is :-$25
    Adsense Earning:- $10
Total Earning in a day:- $55
    Monthly Earning:- $1650

You don't need any CPA offers Just use your brain & create products...

You can even sell Accesories Printed Mugs, Posters, Bands, many more...

You will have to do Little more Hard Work if you want to make big bucks don't just relly on Adsense it's for Lazy People...

$10 a day from your existing traffic suggests that your viewers are getting motivated to take an action, after reading your reviews, and so they click on your Adsense ads. I think a better bet would be to place Amazon affiliate link at the end of each review (and also somewhere in the middle) with a specific call-to-action. This should get you more money than Adsense.

But I am not 100% certain that you can use Amazon affiliate with Google Adsense, so either read their TOS or wait for Adsense expert to chip in.
