Ads on top positions usually get higher CTR. To acquire higher position one should focus on getting high quality score. You can increase your quality score by adding your targeted keywords in the ad title, description and landing page.

As far as my experience is concerned about conversion, I would say that text ads displayed on search engines brings more conversions than display network.

Aside from having your Ads placed "above the fold" there is no "golden rule" of which position has the highest CTR.

Each site is set-up differently, and you will have to experiment to find out which placement is the best.

Same with banner ads vs text link ads, again you will have to experiment.

Unfortunately there is no way to determine this without consistent split testing for your individual website.

Am using a news/articles website theme so i thought there will be at least some sort of template on how to serve ads.
Am not very familiar on how to test and monitor specific ads.
Am currently having around 10.00 visitors per month and it justs seems a lot of waist to monetize only 1.25% of my visitors.

A lot of your CTR will also be niche dependent.

For example if your site is about a specific product or products (ie cameras), you may have a high CTR as many advertisers are likely to target specific models etc. that your content may be targeting, thus it will give you this high CTR.

Compare that to a site about weight loss where you may get ads ranging from diet pills to gastric bypass surgery to healthy eating guides. Thus this lack of laser targeted ads will cause a much lower CTR.

There are a lot of factors that will affect how you deliver your ads so there is no telling exactly what is best for you without going through a careful experiment. However, what you are trying to promote will have a great impact on your ads so don't be surprised if you don't get great results if your product is not popular to many people.
