low allintitle page count = easy to rank

I was told buy a video info product seller that if I want to rank a youtube video, I should look for keywords with low "allintitle" page counts (less than 100) and this would ensure a fairly easy page 1 rank. I thought that backlinks, domain authority and content were all big factors as well.

Any thoughts?

Certainly you're right, but sometimes your "YouTube" video ranks without doing any link building. There could be many reasons... low competition, well optimized video etc. We all know that Google love to display videos for search terms, so if your video is using same keyword which has been searched by searcher then your video could easily show up on first page.

The WSO seller you talked to is a moron. "allintitle" has NOTHING to do with the level of competition for a keyword.

Not necessarily, using both "allintitle" and "allinurl" of your keyword is a good general indicator of how many people are trying to optimize their site/video to compete with you.

Other than how many competitors you have though, it doesn't really tell you how competitive the keyword is.

        ^this

Also, sounds like a reasonable idea. Afterall, many Youtube videos rank without any backlinks at all - I might give this a shot myself :p

Exactly my point. It makes no flipping difference how many results are returned by those silly searches. All that matters is how difficult it is to outrank the 10 sites on page one. Number 11-5,000,000 don't matter.

      This 100%.

The only competition that matters is on page 1, and, to a greater extent, the top 3.

Allintitle will return pages that aren't even listed on the first search page while traffic is doing a regular search. Average traffic doesn't search allintitle.

I use intitle on the top ranked organic domains just to get an idea how serious the top ranked domains are about the keyword, but that's still a very rough point of view, regardless, I like to know what I'm dealing with.

Example, If my keyword was best seo & say Warrior Forum ranked #1 for that keyword I would search for:

    intitle:"best seo" site:www.warriorforum.com
The downside of that search is If the keywords are reversed seo best (just an example), so I'll usually reverse the keyword phrase, or even search intitle on the #1 ranked domain for each individual part of the keyword phrase.

This is the worst advice I have ever seen on WF. Like Mike says, the only competition that matters is page #1. I use SEO Quake to analyse my competition. That's all you need.

Not only is that all you need but after searching practically every keyword tool out there I found none of them gives you better data than that.

titles, PR, the actual positions. URLs on one page. how places and video is playing into the first page etc all with looking at the first page with quake installed.

Even tools that give you most of that information don't give you all on a single page without having to click around in much slower applications.

...and that will get you a fraction of the details about a ranked page. A web page can be boosted in the SERPs with internal pages.

I apologize if this sounds like a stupid question, but what's the best way to determine what "page 1" really is? Will SEO quake show me a true page 1 that doesn't reflect my own internet activity?

Make sure your cookies are cleared when you're keyword researching. Search history can affect your search results.

Also, your location has an affect if local search results show up or if you are trying to rank in a different country.

I use CCleaner (free) to clear any trace of browser history & then use Chrome Incognito as the browser. I think firefox also has an incognito mode (private browsing).

When I'm doing manual keyword searches, I'm constantly opening/closing new Incognito browsers per new keyword so the SERPs aren't skewed by my browser history. I think Chrome Incognito keeps a temporary history per browser session, even If Google says it doesn't.

Keep in mind, most traffic will probably have some browser history/cookies.

Google Incognito is the simplest solution to get a better picture of page #1 competition. You could also clear cookies/cache for your peace of mind but I think Incognito mode if fine.

I use incognito + check from a few different locations through my VPN. Seems to be enough to get a realistic look @ rankings.

    Allintitle: keyword
    OR
    Allintitle "keyword"

That's awful. They should have apologized on you or smth for providing junk-information.

I have never understood the WSO sellers. They tend know about everything, but not deeply enough. So they mix up some crap and make it live.

I'm not talking about all the WSO sellers, but vast majority of them. IMHO, launch a WSO when you are an expert on a specific niche/technique/subject.

For example, I know about PPC, SEO and WordPress. I'm not a "Guru" nor expert. Now, is it wise to create a WSO called "Get $1,034842,492 a month using PPC, SEO and Wordpress blog!". - Nope, it's wrong.

Instead I would create something deep and very comprehensive on a specific thing or just leave it there.

Sorry for offtopic, but it really pisses me off when I see another thread saying "MY EXACT STRATEGY How I Earned a Billion THIS Month" and the WSO price is $5.99

What's even worse is the eBay sellers with pictures of boats, fancy cars, huge houses, women with gigantic implants, etc.

"HOW I EARN $1,829,714.81 A MONTH. SO EASY YOUR 96 YEAR OLD GRANDMA COULD DO IT!!!!!!"

I think its obvious that in any business that the demand VS supply ratio is maybe the most important factor. Good question though.
