Can I get some ideas as to expected clicks per impressions on display ads. they are financial stocks related on financial stock sites.
I thought I should be getting 1 click per hundred but I got none out of 2500 .
Am I expecting too much?. I have a 10x normal bid to make sure I get good placement too.

Could be your ad sales copy is not very compelling. A lot of split testing is needed for finding the right fit and the highest CTR for your $$$.
PPC is an Art unto itself.

Yes that's bad, zero conversion rate for anything is bad.

okay, thanks much. I thought it probably wasn't a good sign. I guess I should pause the ads and then re launch new ads. I wound up getting 3 clicks from 2 sites, I guess maybe I'll somehow look into those 3 clicks also , to see what was different on those sites.

I did some banner campaigns lately and I got shockingly low 0,1-0,3% CTR's, which actually seems to be somewhat standard for banners but whatever. 0,1% is 1 click in 1000 impressions. I can't really imagine you do worse then that with not 1 click in 2500 impressions.

A rule of thumb would be to have 1 click per 1000 impressions for display ads, or a ctr of 0.10%.

Of course, all that matters is your ROI, and whether you're profitable.

There are so many variables that affect your CTR, such the content of your creative, the creative dimension, the placement you're targeting, the relevancy of the placement you're targeting with the creative you're running, the ad position (above or below the fold) etc...

You have to take a lot of stuff into consideration before starting a display campaign. It usually takes quite a bit of testing until you find a few well performing placements.

I'm trying new things now. Where can I get a list of placement sites? googles tool just gives me about 10 choices for stock sites and I know there are many thousands of them out there. any idea how I can get a list of stock market related site to paste in my placement box?

This is normal.. It depends on your niche, are people interested in those ads? Is the template good for such ads. Are those TARGETTED visitors?!?

There is a ton of possible factors, CTR is always going to be lower on the display network, but your ad copy and targeting is probably not very good.

You can check of some competitors, so you can see where they display the ads. In this way you can try and see if something changes. Even you can sometime get 2 views and 2 clicks, and sometimes 2000 and no one clicks. For me this happen.
