I am in the process of getting one domain name registered. I remember having read some where that the domain name should have maximum of 20 characters (excluding .com)

The one I am considering has 22 characters (excluding .com)

Any thoughts on the above.

    Nein, No!

Think about user-friendliness. Do you love to type in "What-is-the-best-toaster-in-US-right-now.com?" Think about returning visitors.

Dont worry ! If that ever happen for some one to stumble on website with this name !"What-is-the-best-toaster-in-US-right-now.com" the last thing, you need to worry of is that he will return

I used to have a client monetizing with this type of EMDs.Even tough his domain names had over 20 chars, the sites were ranking farily quick.Due to management issues,he started working with authority sites now,but that strategy still works.

Choose a name related to your website topic. Domain name length of 22 is ok if its easy to remember which helps vistors. The most important thing is your content.

I have got different data on different sources. But this domain name seems to be good, not too very long. I have seen long domain names ranking for many keywords. So I don't think if you get a 22 character domain there would be any problem.

I had a domain once with 128 characters. It was done as a joke. 22 characters is fine from an SEO point of view. On the other hand, from a marketing point of view there may be issues.

What issues does it have from marketing point of view?
