Tips for getting your hands dirty every morning (to get contextual links)
- SEO |
I thought I would share this with you. First of all, determine your main keywords and set them up on Google Alerts. This means you will get noticed when someone posts an article about your keyword/topic.
Another thing you should do is search for your main keyword in Twitter every morning.
With Google alerts + twitter you will most likely gather approx. 10 articles (depends on the keyword) per day which are just launched.
What is good about "just launched" is that the blog post/article creators are opened for feedback and they will most likely do some minor edits as well. And this is the place where you come in.
Let's say your main keyword is: "how to make backlinks". Now, when you see a recent article about "how to make backlinks" you need to contact with the blog owner and your main goal is to get your website link inside the article. It's not wise to give them your homepage or direct to link to YOUR article about "how to make backlinks". Why should he/she add an alternative article inside his/her article? Well in some cases it might work, but you have to know it's competition. Especially in this kind of niche.
You better come up with something more unique, more clever. Instead already have or write comprehensive well-made article about "Why should bloggers make backlinks". Even better, write 2-3 articles that are related with your main keyword and use them to attract even more links.
And now use the following copy:
How are you doing? I have been constantly reading your blog lately and I feel there is a lot of things to learn from you.
I just read your latest post about how to make backlinks, it's located here: hxxp://balbla.com/how-to-make-articles
I have to say it's well written, simple yet straightforward. And I love it!
Furthermore, I was wondering maybe you could my article inside your post as well? It's about "Why should bloggers make backlinks". It's an informational article about why every bloggers should consider making backlinks. I'm more than sure that it fits there pretty well and will encourage your readers to take action. It's located here: hxxp://yoursite.com/why-should-bloggers-make-backlinks.
Let me know what you think and have a nice week,
Your name"
Obviously you can come up with something better, but I bet you can get an idea. And it has been working pretty well!
Few tips to keep in mind:
- Your article has to be valuable
- It has to fit, you can't just send them your homepage link and say "yo, it's cool page same as yours, add my link plz"
- It's even better when you tweet about their article so that they can see you really liked it. (I use fake twitter account with fake followers for that)
How does it convert?
Pretty well. Every morning I'm getting approx 1 link out of 10 emails. While most of the pages that are just launched end up with PR n/a they soon become PR2 or PR3 (if they are on legit site). And when you found it through twitter they are also highly promoted which means you can get direct traffic to your site.
You should definitely try it, you got nothing to loose. In some niches it works extremely well while in other not so good. But the whole idea is that it's a great opportunity to take advantage of an article that is just published.
