What Google Looks Like Now!

Been spending some time this last couple of weeks looking at Google's search results in various niches, and actually being a consumer looking for information, etc. - and I CAN'T BELIEVE how bad their results are getting.

Even had to use Bing/Yahoo to get better results sometimes. Anyone else noticing this since Penguin 2.0 has started rolling out (and it has).

If this is the search engine they want, I might have to dust off the old black hat and starting spamming like it's 1999.

    I think almost everyone is noticing it. For one keyword I looked up there were 20 pages of YouTube videos for the results. Seems excessive

      I feel really bad (seriously...not kidding) for some of the product affiliate folks because the big brands like Amazon are taking up the first page almost completely.

      Try looking for information on how to fix your lawn mower now and the first two pages are Amazon, etc. Not what I was looking for at all.

      Not to mention all the multiple sub-domain spam and blogspot spam ranking so high all of a sudden. Example;

      $php_coding = "consistent cash";

      echo ("Give me" . " " . $php_coding . "!");

        I think the result depends on who is searching. I dont see Amazon on first page

        Why on earth would google send peope to an affiliate page, when they
        can send their consumers right to the source?

        You people spend way too much time searching like an IMer.

        Real people don't search like that.

        Real people seem to have voted.

        Even yahoo has tried to figure out how to get out of
        the "partnership" with bing...that was bad news from
        the beginning.

        Sure. Google is so bad, nobody uses it anymore.

      Yeah - see a lot of other publishers using PPC exclusively. We're still all organic.

    I think Googles search results are awesome.

    My inlaws are running winXP & have a virus on their PC, I did a single search for the virus name (fake antivirus popup on the PC) & the very first search results was from bleepingcomputer.com, with a step by step turorial, worked like a charm.

    There are dozens of updates a year.

    I also noticed movement in various niches but it does not mean it has something to do with the next generation of Penguin.

    Panda and Penguin and alike are just significant ones, which Google "pre-launches" for at least two months so that the last of the sheep have enough time to come crying to the disavow tool and show them link networks they couldn't find themselves. So they can craft their update to "perfection".

    Agree with tofrar and Yukon, to a degree. For your search term "how can I fix my lawn mower" and variants "how to fix a lawnmower" etc, I'm seeing three Youtube videos, a few general how-tos and a couple of specific DIY lawn mower fix sites. All quite good results. No Amazon at all. (Searching in .co.uk)
