Spoken google search...worried(?)

Just read an interesting piece on what google is doing with chrome
and android, and it will probably roll out something for regular
online searches. Sounds pretty cool.

Instead of typing, you ask google a question. Okay. That's being
done now. But here's the major tweak. Instead of listing a bunch
of websites in regular search, how about google answering back?
In the form of an answer?

Like, "Google where's a good Italian place nearby?" Google
Responds in voice, "Antoinio's. Two blocks south at 567 Main Street."

You ask, "Google will it be raining tomorrow?" Google's voice says,
"No, tomorrow will be sunny."

Amazing stuff.

Granted, not all searches will be done this way. Only ones that
can be answered. But as mobile gets bigger, your oraganic
traffic from online searches may be getting smaller. You know
there will be desktop/laptop searches by voice like this eventually.

Worried? If your site answers questions, like best 2013 auto for family, you
may be trumped by google just answering the question,
"According to Consumer Reports, such and such a car is best for families."

Yes, you would have to turn this option on. But like I said, eventually
mobile and desktop will wed.

Very interesting. I saw this on Mashable today. Just rolled out for Google Chrome on desktop, too.

It might be very convenient to search with voice commands, and having Google answer your questions. However, I don't think it will come to a point where they will intentionally remove your attention off the ads they display. It's their main source of income.

Now if they actually started using "sponsored voice ads", now that is a different story

That's pretty good observation. Thing is, they make a boatload
off of android and chrome, due to, well, ads. You see them
      everywhere, not just on search.

But your point brings up an interesting idea. Will people pay
to be in the answers? I am actually laughing on that one,
      but who knows?

Like you said, where can they make money if not ads?

Sure seems local businesses being on google maps/local
is pretty much going to be a given if you want to be
      successful in this changing world.
