Dear blog comments spammers

... I'm sick of you. When do you understand that blog comments doesn't work? When do you understand that blog comments are no-follow? When do you understand that blasting tier links to your homepage or web2.0 doesn't give any good? When do you understand that they are entirely pointless?

Most of you would advise me to turn comments off, but I can't. On my best sites there is lot of discussion going on and I receive 300 blog comments per day, 20 of them are from real people. And because of you I have to get akismet account. Sick.

Comment: Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!

    What's so bad about Akismet? Works great, and I dread ever turning it off. We review all comments before they are published. I do that first thing every morning - takes about 45 minutes.

    At least that comment is readable... mine are all in chinese or broken english!! I delete all of them... they'll learn one day.

    Just to be fair for those who understand why people still blog comment spam..you have two groups of spammers

    !) those who think push button seo is easy. Duh. It's not. And don't stop to think that these links are *virtually* worthless or..
    2) the savvy seo'ers who still blast to blogs on the internet sphere realizing they're dropping tier 3 or tier 2 links simply to get crawled and so that their pages get spidered exponentially..

    I feel your pain, trust me, I've got a very extensive personal network of sites. But I wish that the group from number 1 would just go away. Number 2 people, however, will continue on because it still works. Just the nature of the beast. There are a bunch of plugins which can assist if you did around though.

    I agree that you often can not simply turn comments off as there is usually some good ones amongst all the bad. I recommend you use the DISQUS, from what I can tell and in my experience the comments do not allow for any links. I added the plugin to my site and say the spam level dropped big time
