Does it hurt people eyes to look at the subjects on the first page before posting identical Threads?

I know Penguin 2.0 will be a popular subject for awhile and this isn't even about talking about that subject itself. We have now had about ten threads opened up announcing that Penguin 2.0 went live. right now about 7 of them are on the first page.

This happens alot with some people opening up threads even after the subject has been posted a week and the previous one is still on the front page. If you positively must open up a thread to make an announcement then do more homework to find something really new.

Right now there are some people who (if they could in this section) would be breaking the "news" today that there was a bad tornado in oklahoma that touched down.


If you come to the threads look through the front page (takes like 5 seconds) and its already been announced by someone - You've been scooped - take it like a man or a woman. Join THAT conversation or go look for some real news.

IF not you just end up cluttering up the board for everyone.

    We just need to start a myth that if you start a new thread where one already exists, your website in your signature will get penalized for having a link from "duplicate content". People would probably believe it too and be scared to start new threads.

        I expect that to come when and If Google devalues tiered link building. You might even see people jumping out of windows. It will make the showers of crying from last year seem like a drizzle. Leading the dive will be the tool developers.

    WF does hurt my eyes sometimes... It is so bright and shiny with all these hot topics - some with the same subject over and over. Must be good. Even little flames on some of the folders. I was thinking about getting my sunglasses out. /joke

    It indicates a lot of people don't scroll down, they come here with a topic in mind and say what is on their mind, as the post button is at the top. Same thing with why don't people use the search before posting? They come with saying something/asking something and don't/won't spend any time looking first.

      Yeah but sunglasses doesn't help me out with the cash signs, capitalization and exclamation marks in the WSO section. Still disorientating.

        Ahh, my answer to that is check your hard drive first for something on the topic.

        Then get out the expensive sunglasses, such as Ray Bans, as they are supposed to be better. Now hold your hand up horizontally, fingers spread wide, 6 inches from the screen before going to wso section. Read between the lines you can still see. /joke

        Seriously Mike, it is mighty annoying, this posting over and over on the same subject and asking things that could be found by search. But I don't see that it is going to change. It is easier to change the attitude and just laugh it off. I am getting less serious by the year. It took me a long time.

    You know it's funny how when I say the same thing I get called all kinds of names but when Mike does it it's ok, what up wit dat. Yea Mike I'm hatin on your untouchable status.


    Anyways, things will never change. On any given day most of the threads here can be solved with a simple Google search yet people still ask "what is a backlink".

    If you can't perform a simple Google search to find the answer to your question you should quit IM.

    You know how people debate whether or not LSI is real or not, or to what extent Google does it? It would be nice if that technology could carry over to forum threads. Something like when multiple threads have almost identical topics, they automatically get merged into a single thread. I know, wishful thinking....
