Should I Start Over With New AdWords Account?

Hi folks... about a year ago I opened up an AdWords account and over that time I've tried a number of campaigns. From the beginning my QS has always been low. Even when bidding on my own name, to a site with myname.com which is totally and completely about me, I get a low QS.

I need to make some money right now due to certain circumstances. I have two questions please for the experts.

1. Since my ad history is so poor, should I open a new account and try and establish a new and better ad history. Seems like every keyword phrase I try now they want $10+ CPC, even when keyword software tells me the average bid is .53

2. What can I do going forward to ensure my history is better. I've followed this subject for sometime and have implemented all the techniques I've read about but to no avail.

I would really appreciate any help I could get about this. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Free Time,

I wouldn't recommend opening a new account just yet, you would probably find yourself quickly in the same situation. You need to figure out what it is that you are doing wrong, correct that and rehab your account. If you can do this then you won't need to open a new account, if you can't you won't solve your problem with a new account.

If you have minimum bids of $10 then you have been Google Slapped and your first task should be to discover the cause, or causes. There are tools built into your account that will indicate the root cause of your poor quality scores.

Start with the Keyword Analysis Page. This will let you know where you need to focus you efforts.

Next study the detailed instructions on optimizing your account found at this link:

    AdWords Help

Once you've got a good understanding of basic concepts discussed in the above link you need create a new campaign designed specifically for rehabilitating your account:
    1. Select a single, extremely relevant, long tail phrase (3 or 4 words) that has some daily search volume.
    2. Create a single Ad Group with your single keyword as an exact match only.
    3. Create a couple of well written ads that include the exact keyword in the headline of the ads. Include an emotional benefit and call to action.
    4. Create a landing page that includes the exact keyword phrase in the page title and the headline. Make sure this page meets all the webmaster guidelines for quality.
    5. Set a high bid and run this single keyword campaign for 2 or 3 days while monitoring the Quality Score.
    6. If you see the quality score improve, then you are on the right course. lower the bid slightly each day until you're satisfied with your ROI. If you don't see an improvement drop this keyword and try to find a better candidate.
    7. Once you have a good quality score on one keyword, repeat the process, using single keyword, exact match only Ad Groups for three more keywords.
    8. Once you have all 4 keywords with good quality scores, expand your ad groups to another 10 single keyword, exact match only ad groups.
    9. Once you have all 14 ad groups performing well your account should be in reasonably good shape and you can expand as needed.

This is my foolproof method for rehabilitating a Google Slapped account. Let me know if you get stuck and I try to help you out!

    Good Luck

Or try alternative traffic sources. Freeusads and Craigslist may help.
