Hello everyone, Sometimes I see increase in no. of backlinks from the same domain in google webmaster tools. So, Just wanted to know if that helps in seo or if that matters. How many back links from same domain are good. Is there any bad effect if no. increases to 100's or 1000's

Thanks

I'm very positive google has a diminishing return on backlinks from the same domain. How big of a diminishing return and which pages/links are prioritized is up for debate.

I agree with that. Google shouldn't really punish a site for having many backlinks from the same domain, as that can happen naturally (your blog comment gets put in a "Recent Comments" box that appears on all 500 pages of a site, for example). "Diminishing returns" sounds right. And how that rate of diminishing returns is calculated by Google would of course be debatable by all of us who have no insider information about Google's algorithms. As a pure *guess* I would think after a couple of backlinks from one domain, the rest would be ignored (not "punished", just ignored). Makes sense in my world, don't know about Google's.
