If I begin posting one unique, well written piece of content on one of my pages per day and do little/nothing else will I eventually start getting ranked.

The content would be based on keywords that I want to target which are low/medium competition, but the focus will be on quality and usefulness to the reader.

I ask because I don't really have the time or knowledge to do extensive link building and other SEO stuff. I can, however, commit to writing one great article or post or whatever per day and putting it up.

The site is a couple years old and already has about 25 articles on it from when I first started the site. I haven't done anything to it in about 18 months but it does get between 1-10 visitors per day from a few sites I posted links to back then and organic google, ect.

Let me know if it will be worth my time in the long run to just post once per day or if that would just be a waste of my time.

Thanks!

Are you going to post them on social media or do anything else to float them into the internet's stream of consciousness?

I wasn't planning on doing anything else but post the links. I think I've got a plugin for the site already that submits them to RSS feeds and things like that. Google, bing, ect already crawl my site so they will get picked up that way as well (I hope).

Yes the short answer is yes, provide quality content and share it on social media and other avenues, if its quality and benefits the reader then the readers will create backlinks for you naturally.

Just write quality content and create some awareness and let the readers do the rest.

Do you think some "light" super high PR back linking to his main domain would help? Wouldn't it make sense to identify the market / consumer for the content before it is created? Lets say another blogger with synergies?

Yes that's the whole point, create quality content and network with people. Guest post on other relevant websites. Don't link swap or buy links. It doesn't work.

There is no point in writing content if you don't know the market or consumer its intended for. You pretty much have to choose your topic, and know what your talking about when you write about it.

What ever that content is related too, the readers will find it, as you get ranked higher and if you promote your posts.

Yes, this is a unique idea and I think it would help.

Think of blog posts, those blogs which have high no. of quality comments rank good but it should look natural.

For low traffic/competition longtail keywords, Yes, you'll rank.

For high traffic/competition keywords, No, you won't rank.
