google webmaster tools search queries spiking up and down out of control

Anyone ever notice the volume of search queries, as tracked from within google webmaster tools, exhibit explainable levels of volatility?

In other words, the number of search queries goes from around 2k per day to 27k per day and then back down to 2k per day- and so on?

these figures appear, to me, to be wildly inaccurate; as,1) i dont experience any increase in search traffic volume on 27k query days vs. 2k query days. 2) there is no keyword reported that could account for that huge increase in volume

Anyone know why this could be happening? Is it some sort of bug? Can google fix it?

It is annoying because i cant rely on the data that i am getting about my sites SERP performance.

Thanks,

Peter

If you are curious about your traffic etc, you should install GA and forget the Webmaster Tools. It's inaccurate, no doubt about it... I only check this few times a year to see if there isn't any "errors" that google does not like. That's all.
