Can Social Signal Hurt Your SERP?

Does liking a webpage can hurt your SERP on Google? I was on the first page of Google before I bought a service on Fiverr that will give you 3k likes on your webpage. When I got 3k likes my SERP drops to Page 3. My question is, does Social Signal can hurt your SERP? 3k likes was given in 1-2 hours only. from 10 likes to 3000 like.

    I really don't think so. It may be due to recent Penguin 2.0 update.

    Do you have a link back to your facebook page from your site? If so, then chances are there to get negative impact on getting 3000 likes within short time period...

    This can ONLY happen if you do a reciprocial linking between your Facebook page and your website! Only then this COULD be a reason for such a BIG SERP ranking drop...

    For a new site getting 3000 likes in 2-3 hours in a day, and then get nothing on the next day may be the case here. If you were getting those likes slowly and gradually then you won't be seeing any drop in SERPs. As the recent updates are actually targeting these activities.
