Worst PPC mistakes a newbie can make?

Hey guys, I'm curious if anyone has any advice on PPC, specifically on ClickBank products.

I'm just now returning to the internet marketing business after taking a 1 year hiatus due to failing. PPC seems like a quick way to start, but I want to make sure I don't make mistakes and end up failing again.

I've thought about creating ads on websites and having them land on the product page.

Another direction I could go is first create the ad, then have the person land on a website I've created which has an article about the product and hopefully they'll be interested enough to learn more about said product.

Something I want to avoid is spending too much cash on advertising without getting any sales.

Please help me out here guys, any tips will be appreciated.

Forgot to mention Google Adsense is no longer an available choice for me due to some ignorant choices I made years ago.

      Two key ones:

      1. Direct-linking to the CB product page
      2. Targeting broad (ie. non-converting keywords)

Careful promoting CB stuff, I got good at that and then randomly got banned.

I had a long email back and forth with google, but they never could explain or give me a reason, but they refused to lift the ban as well.

Try it out but be careful. That really turned my life upside down for like a week.

      Now i'm into seo

If you create an ad i would send the traffic to a squeeze page where you can capture leads then sed them to an offer, that way if you don't get the sale you get the lead to send them another offer later

And actually, I think that this is the process that most successful clickbank affiliates are using. Excellent advice!

But PPC isn't for beginners - you can chew through money like you wouldn't believe. I'd start a funnel, and use free traffic until you had a good grasp of your conversion rates... without that information - PPC is going to eat you alive.

I think (and I'm NOT experienced in PPC - so take what I say with a grain of salt!) that most PPC courses teach you that you need to start with a good amount of capital, knowing that you're going to initially have failing campaigns.

And you definitely need to have some good tracking software ready to go... such as Adtrackz Gold... or similar.

My advice? Stay away from PPC... at least until you have $500-1,000 laying around.

A funnel, combined with forum posting and low-cost media buys would be my recommendation.

      Just a thought...
