Blog comments left by Google & Bing? :D

Hello,

Lately I'm getting a lot of spammy blog comments, however some of them are quite interesting to say the least.

For example:

Name: Phil
Webpage: Bing
Comment: Cool... Bing

another one...

Name: Jonas
Webpage: Google
Comment: Google -> Google

What is the purpose of those comments? I just don't get it... Could someone elaborate?

I suspect it's a bot (probably scrapebox), user trying to create a unique and searchable footprint to harvest auto-approve blogs.

That's exactly what it looks like to me as well. Probably blasting hundreds of thousands of sites and seeing which ones automatically approve the comment.

Actually, that's not it.

Google got hit hard by Penguin 2.0. They're trying to build some High PR backlinks to get their rankings back for "best search engine".
