I need some quick help here with figuring out keyword rank in google. I have used many of the keyword rank tools I found searching in google.com but never see my site ranking for anything in those tools.

Here is my issue and I need help with understanding this:

My domain is concertscomingup.com
Keyword I am targeting: concerts coming up
- when I search "concerts coming up" in google I am on the first page. But when I use a keyword rank tool they all show my site not showing up in the top 1000. What is the deal here? What am I missing?

You're getting personalized results. In Google Chrome, open Incognito mode (Shift+Ctrl+N) and perform the search again.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

This time, I don't think that is the problem. I see him on page one. Two spots on page one actually.

    Two things:

First, any rank checking tool you use is going to most likely be connecting to a different data server than you are, so rankings are going to be slightly to significantly different. For example, I have one client right now which when I check their keyword in Pennsylvania, they rank around #10-12. When I check the keyword from parts of California, they rank #2-3.

Second, why are you targeting a keyword that gets about 200 searches a month, and at most, I would imagine you would make a couple bucks a sale? If that is your primary keyword, you probably just created a $20-30/month site at best.

Thanks for the help here. Google Adwords is telling me that "concerts coming up" gets 49,500 searches a month. Is that not correct?

First lesson in keyword research. Click the exact match button and not broad search.

Your 9th in Irealnd but that includes my local listings so your prob top 5 here.

concerts coming up - It has just 240 Global search and 140 Local search. It is go for a better keyword than this to get traffic. As Kevin said, you have to check "Exact" on keyword tool. Here are some useful keywords for you :
cheap concert tickets - it has 9900 searches

Other than this, you may target keyword with location. example Concert tickets NY or etc - those may have good searches...

On WhatsMySERP.com you are showing between 5th and 7th when I check your domain and keyword. In the future, try to use a good SERP checking tool.
