How can you predict the earnings for specific keyword?

Hey,

I'm in a lack of motivation for ranking mid/high competition keyword. I'm trying to rank 2 keywords, that

a) 33000 exact searches
b) 49000 exact searches

I know that when you estimate something, you will probably have to divide it at least with 10 since predictions are always different from reality.

However, let's say I manage to rank my site for those keywords at the top. Let's say my CTR is good enough so I can get at least 70% of the clicks.

This all together sums with 58000 visitors per month (I will probably get more visitors for different keywords since if I manage to rank to the first spot, I will probably start receiving traffic from keywords that I'm not even targeting). So this looks like some what legit number.

If I divide it with 30 (days in month) I'll get approx 2000 visitors a day. Let's divide with 2 to be more realistic which is 1000 visitors a day.

My lead is $72. Let's say conversion rate is 0,1% . 1000*0,001 = 1 lead per day
30 x 72 = $2000 per month.

What you think, is it somewhat realistic? Or how do you estimate the earnings before starting SEO campaign?

You need to figure in, Full moons, Vampire attacks, Alien invasions and Comet strikes too. That could totally mess up the numbers.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

70% CTR on the SERPs even for a #1 ranked position isn't realistic, assumes there's no PPC advertisements above the #1 ranked organic SERP listing, would be doing pretty good at 40 - 50% SERP CTR.

OP said mid to high SERP competition which usually means the PPC guys know about the keyword, so it pushes the #1 ranked SERP listing further down the SERPs, even If it's ranked #1 organically.

You also need to be looking at Local data on the keyword tool, you'll never rank #1 for every single global search that Google owns.
